According to a yougov poll, over one third of younger voters support socialism. In fact, this is almost equal to the number of millennials who say that they support capitalism (36- Socialism, 39-capitalism.) This number will only grow in favor of socialism as more and more young Americans get fed up with police brutality against people of color, and are inspired by civil rights movements such as OWS, BLM, and the protests which overthrew a racist, bigoted University of Missouri chancellor last year.

This is in direct contrast to the older generations, which are much more biased in favor of capitalism. This shows that my generation is more open minded, more forward thinking, and as we prepare to take the reigns of leadership in this country, socialism will slowly go from ostracized, to respected, to the American way of life.

And what child doesn't like the idea of never having to be responsible for themselves? It all seems like such a wonderful thing until that day when you realize that your "freedom" only exists within the confines of the cage your masters coaxed you into.

Oh. So this thread is only for those who agree with one mindset? I'm so sorry for expressing my own view on a message board thread. Not.

Okay fine, lets put the proverbial "ball in your court". Please enlighten us.......if not consumerism and a sense of entitlement, what will be the legacy of the Millennial generation? I sincerely believe that most who are negatively judgmental seem to be judging by the words, and actions (or lack thereof), and statistics surrounding this particular generation. What more is there to go on? If you've something new and inspiring or different to share, please have at it! Start a new thread if you will, but I am genuinely interested to see what your take is.

Yes. That is very true. George Bernard Shaw remarked on that a long time ago:
"Any man who is not a communist at the age of twenty is a fool. Any man who is still a communist at the age of thirty is an even bigger fool."

Millennials just want a social democratic set up.

The two are essentially the same thing and, while it undermines society less quickly, it seems to become an unsustainable drag. Countries like Italy, France, Norway or Finland are demonstrating this at this time in different ways. This does not mean that government action cannot alleviate the pain, hide the effects and stabilize the system over extended periods. One need only look at the Soviet Union, which was much more socialist than today's surviving social democracies are. It took decades before it collapsed and there were periods, where it seemed that Nikita Khrushchev's "Мы вас похороним!" might work out after Stalin's rapid build up of heavy industry, ignited a hydrogen bomb and the Sputnik project had demonstrated the strengths of statism. So don't let the clean pressed suits of the social democracy politicians fool you any more than those of the Chinese autocrats. The social democratic experiments were not as much a disaster as the real socialism of the East and like them SD has had its advantages in pacifying the populations along the Cold War boarders in Europe. But the effects have slowed progress and lowered welfare in many ways and the bureaucratic elites of Europe know this and are trying to replace the the "social" in society.

And where does that Free come from again? Oh yeah the rest of us and their Futures....

Brilliant plan.

NO.

Of course it's brilliant populism. Social democracies are powered by such popular little swindles.

True, it's easy to promise, very hard to follow through.

Of course. They don't have real jobs. They generally don't run a business. They never supported their family on their own. They never served in their nation's military. They generally have no real world experience(which is why a lot of college professors tend to lean left and support idiotic socialist and commie nonsense).Plus who doesn't like the idea of free **** if you don't think you will have to pay for it.

Socialism is very popular among the younger generations

So are video games. But most people grow out of that too.

Just wait til they start producing; their love of free stuff from "the government" will decline when they're footing the bill, just like it does every generation.
