...and it Always Winds Up Like This:

Venezuela calls for mandatory labor on farms.

People can be forced to work for up to 60 days at farm labor.

One example of failed socialism after another through the years, and yet we still have people who advocate it. Human stupidity is without limit.

How did we get here? Did we uplift Venezuela, or did we place sanctions on them because they are socialists?

Did Venezuelans commit to socialist ideals, or did some people take advantage of every opportunity to squirrel away resources from everyone else... just like a capitalist?

Yes, in order to work socialism must have citizens who are saints, who defy every expectation of human nature and act with perfect selflessness. That's one reason why socialism always fails.

The deterioration in US-Venezuela relations has been Venezuela's own doing. This apparently follows the oft used gambit of blaming internal woes on imaginary external enemies. Other than sanctions against specific government officials in Venezuela for violation of human rights I'm unaware of any US sanctions against Venezuela. The US has maintained normal economic relations with Venezuela in spite of multiple treaty violations on Venezuela's part.

I guess you're right. I'm sure the sanctions don't help, either.

According to this article:

The United States and Venezuela have each been without ambassadors since 2010, when then-President Hugo Chávez suspected the United States of sponsoring a coup to overthrow his regime. Each country has retaliated against the other through a series of diplomatic expulsions. Venezuela has also restricted commerce from leaving the country. Capital controls put corporations in a tricky situation, trapping an estimated $8 to $12 billion within the country. Current President Nicolás Maduro has no intentions of lifting these controls, although Venezuela continues to experience inflation rising over 45 percent per month, threatening to erode profits. As a temporary measure, corporations have begun reinvesting these profits into Venezuelan real estate.
US companies don't like having 8 to 12 billion trapped by capital controls. Who knows what corporations will do to leverage this type of economic policy?

It is a sign of ignorance, really. Otherwise one would not discuss wanting socialism. Instead, one would begin with an explanation of with which measures one wanted to solve the problems that have always beset earlier attempts and eventually sunk them.

Little pity, they asked for this by voting in Chavez.

Talking with Americans, you get the impression a good many like BS' policy proposals.

As our education system fails, the appeal of stupidity rises.

Are you suggesting if it were your money, you'd like it?

All I see again is demonization of wealth and corporations. Likely you ran a lot of corporations and feel guilty about all the loot you got, amirte?

No, I am not demonizing corporations. I'm just calling them pie-eyed and sticky-fingered.

What difference does it make? This is the result of socialism/communism every time it's tried. Marxism only works on paper.

But way to go with your typical leftist mischaracterization of capitalism. Cannot Marxism stand on its own four legs without lying about capitalism? Evidently not.

Everything is the fault of the guarantor of security.

I am not demonizing corporations. I am LIGHTLY demonizing them.

It's people Celebrity. Probably people working hard jobs that report their earnings and hope share prices go up so that your retirement portfolio continues to grow and you can retire comfortably.
We could be so lucky for you to get off the couch and really create value in the marketplace such that you'd need to incorporate, invest in real estate, fund things abroad as well, etc.
Go for it, you can do it. Or you can just keep armchair quarterbacking.

You mean I can keep not feeding the vampires?
Demonization by any other name, thanks for playing.

In the abstract, you're simply bullying. You can join the ranks of the new feminists who bully all enablers, and cop killers, etc.

Or I can join the ranks of people who don't want to give equal pay, kill children and women and black people, etc. Am I right? Human trafficking is highly profitable.
