This is what's so silly - the conservative fantasy that the guv'mint's a-gonna come with those black helicopters and git their guns. Y'all don't realize that what's behind this is NOT the guv'mint a-comin' to git yer guns, but the gun MANUFACTURERS realizing that while their sales of guns and ammo are up, gun ownership is DOWN...and they're doing what they must to try to protect their corporate profits. In other words, y'all are being used and abused and you don't even know it. Gun ownership is down because more and more people are realizing that the social cost of guns - in the form of neighborhood, school, and even household violence - is much greater than the freedom those guns are supposedly used to protect.

jus mebbe folks are gettin' smart and finding ways not to have their names attached to weapons?
personally I don't 'own' a single firearm

now If you told me cigarette smoking was down

falling numbers of first time drug users?

fewer abortions
ok that's a stretch
those things have your 'societal costs' associated with them
but everytime you guys grab for guns more and more people become armed
