So.......... Now We Have Seen The Russian Army In Action In Europe

What exactly is reasonable about drawing a red line and then invading a country that doesn't cross it?

Way to avoid someones post questions to you

As for your question it was obvious that NATO were already in Ukraine and it was fast becoming a defacto NATO state , even if not officially so

More lies. Putin loves you.

I had this dispute over that article with someone lese recently and will just ask you a simple question

Who wrote that article?

If it wasn't Putin, and there are no quotes from Putin in that article ,then there is no evidence contained in it and it remains the view of the author

And

Even if you are granted the licence to assign these views to Putin it would only relate to Ukraine anyhow. No mention of rolling back time and finished up occupying east Germany

I swear, you have more lame excuses than any ten people. Any ten Putin social media hack room employees, that is.

What Putin wants to do may match what he thinks he can do.

The latter part, however, doesn't appear, at least currently, to match any reality other than the one he has concocted for himself.

Who wrote that article?
Russia Times

“It was a tragedy for the vast majority of the country’s citizens,” the President said. “After all, what is the collapse of the USSR? It’s the collapse of historical Russia, called the Soviet Union.”

Al Jazeera

A loyal servant of the Soviet Union, Putin was dismayed when it fell apart, once calling the collapse “the greatest geopolitical disaster of the 20th century”.

And?

That is somehow evidence that he is planning to resurrect the USSR today?

He drew a red line on Ukraine and Georgia because of the existential threat NATO military bases in those countries would pose. That's pretty reasonable imo
To hell with Putin's paranoid little red lines. Who the hell is he that he should be able to order other nations around like that? Nobody, that's who. NATO doesn't go around devouring other nations by force like tyrants do. Nations join willingly after a long compliance and acceptance process. And NATO poses neither an existential nor even an aggressive threat to Russia. Never has, never will. The only "threat" NATO ever posed to Putin, besides kicking his ass back home if he tried to invade anyone, was the spirit of freedom and democracy taking hold amongst people he hopes to keep oppressed.

You asked for quotes. He is quoted. He equates the fall of the Soviet Union to the fall of Russia itself, calling it the greatest geopolitical disaster of the 20th century. What else do you need to connect these dots?

There's no evidence that Putin is " trying to take it over" at all

He gave his aims and it didn't include taking over the country nor does the military attack look like it's an attempt to take over the country so yeah, I am asking this now.

The US spent decades in Afghanistan and never won, same with Iraq and never won.

What makes you people think Putins weaker army can recapture Eastern Europe when it cannot even win in Ukraine?
Why on earth would you believe what Putin said?

Why on earth would you believe what Putin said?

Why should we believe what anyone says then?

He has never, to my knowledge, said anything about a plan to recreate the USSR but that stupid notion has traction here.

Even the fact that the notion itself, even if he did want to do it, is so ridiculous so as to cast into the realms of fantasy.

But it has traction, so someone/some people are lying about it. Obviously. Why don't you care about that?

I disagree. Putin would only love someone who is actually able to convince others to support the desired narrative. Thus far, the OP has been ineffective at convincing anyone to change his or her mind. So rather than expressing love, I would imagine Putin is seething hatred over the lack of results.

False equivalence and whataboutism.. Putin can literally never be believed about ANYTHING. Period.

Putin can always fire him from his social media hack room.

Why should we believe what anyone says then?
Because he is a lying POS. A brutal dictator. Doesn't allow the truth to be reported to his own people, etc.

That's why.

What a stupid question.

"Anyone" isn't like that. Putin is.

Fricken duh!

Plus.....

Putin is a total *****.

If he had any confidence at all in what he is doing and saying he wouldn't clamp down on reporting.

He is a pathetic coward.

Afraid his own people will learn the truth about what he is doing and slaughter him.

Cowardly as it is he is probably right to fear that.

So.......... Now We Have Seen The Russian Army In Action In Europe, is everyone going to drop the ridiculous notion that Putin is aiming to recreate the old USSR and retake Eastern Europe?
Aiming to it, yes, definitely, that's what the war is about, being able to do it with his current military: no.

Not before Russia annexed Crimea.

Russian expansionism is what caused Ukraine to seek NATO protection, and Russian expansionism is why NATO needs to be strengthened throughout Europe, lest other countries suffer the same fate as Ukraine.

Now we have seen some guy fail to get an erection are we going to drop the pretense that the guy wants to ****?

Just because someone cannot do what they want to do, that doesn't mean they don't want to do what they want to do.

Well, the " liberal" West has been shutting down channels that show the Russian side of the story

Nobody lied more than Trump. Boris Johnson is a compulsive liar.

Look at the lies spun to try to justify the US illegal attack on Iraq in 2003.Rice lied, Powell lied, Bush lied

Clinton lied, Kennedy lied

The evidence for state leaders lying in pretty comprehensive and only someone completely out of touch with reality wouldn't know that but because you believe the state propaganda line you are only aware that Putin lies.

Looks like the answer to the question was the stupid part

Where have you been all of these years?

What you are ignoring, or possibly are oblivious of, is the complete nonsense of your arguments.

The US and other Nato countries have been telling nations what they can and cannot do for centuries. These were the big colonial powers of yesteryear don't forget.

They have and continue to order weaker nations around and take action to remove govts they don't like. In comparison Russia imperialism/international thuggishness is a whole league below that of the US/NATO states

Tell me, how did the Cuban attempt to have Russian missiles on its soil go? You know, the missiles they wanted to try to ward off the US state terrorist attacks/actions against their sovereignty?

What about the Nicaraguans throwing off the Somoza autocracy? Grenada? Iraq? Libya?

If you don't understand that NATO does pose an existential threat to Russia you cannot be taken seriously imo Mind you, you look at what you are prepared to ignore to hold the views you hold and it doesn't come as a surprise

Just because someone cannot do what they want to do, that doesn't mean they don't want to do what they want to do.

It's a crude example but whatever that guy " wants" isn't going to happen anyway precisely because it isn't physically possible. You are actually endorsing my point with the above.

Aiming to it, yes, definitely, that's what the war is about, being able to do it with his current military: no.

The war is about stopping the possibility of future NATO missile sites on Ukrainian soil and the danger it poses to Russian cities. That's a whole world away from the ridiculous notion that it is the start of a Russian bid to recapture Eastern Europe
