NATO doesn't go around devouring other nations by force like tyrants do. Nations join willingly after a long compliance and acceptance process. And NATO poses neither an existential nor even an aggressive threat to Russia. Never has, never will. The only "threat" NATO ever posed to Putin, besides kicking his ass back home if he tried to invade anyone, was the spirit of freedom and democracy taking hold amongst people he hopes to keep oppressed.
