Since the Republicans have shut down the government over AHA and are pretty happy with their fit throwing. The next time what will they shut down Government for, my guess is to outlaw Abortion or Ban same sex marriage. Any thought on this because if this is how the business of America is going to be handled then we are all in big trouble.

Ya know.... you can blame one side or the other... it makes no sense and it makes no difference. Both sides had a chance to work to a solution, but perception was more important to them than results. We have all been taken to the cleaners by both sides of the isle. Congress and the executive branch are so focused on placing blame (not only for the shutdown, but for everything else) nothing can ever get done. The whole lot of them ain't worth a rat's a**. All they care about is power... getting it, and keeping it. Both sides suck.

So now that ofailure has shut the government down because he's unwilling to compromise with the House that ADOPTED several continuing resolutions that harryboy and ofailure won't agree too will the lame stream media continue to back up their lies about who's responsible for less government? I'm proud of the Republican House and hope they keep it shut down until the loser comes to the floor begging for a budget.

Yes, my concern here now is what precident is being set. Say in a few years Democrates are in the same position and they want triple funding for Planned Parenthood, would a Republican President negotiate on that? I just see the future as being very bleak, the cause of this is a very very small group of people as well.

Okay can you answer my question now after you got that off your chest. This has nothing to do with either side, this discussion has to do with how the government now works. Huff and Puff till I blow your house down.

Yeah. That is a pretty weird thing. I don't know when the last time there was something passed legally in DC and then a faction wants to defund it while shutting down the government in the process.

Obama hates Republicans, even compliant and weak ones like Boner and McConnell more than Iran or Al Quaeda. The only thing worse than Obama are his supporters.

The shutdown is 100% charged to the republicans. Only in FAUX echo chamber is it spun differently. Obama has the high road on this ....and I am glad he's standing firm.

Any mishap, that's associated with this shutdown....will be blamed on the republicans....by the American people. An attack ...for example will be because of the republican shutdown, you can bank on it. The jury have been out on Obama Care months ago ....there should be no more discussions or negotiations.

Moreover ...if dip-$HT Baenor voted on this it would pass because not every house republican is a lunatic. But why would Bhoenor do that ...not while it could in any way affect HIS job?

This is why I say ...dems will feast on this in 2014, because this shutdown ends the right wing spin about JERBS and JERB -CREATORS!!1

With folks like Reid, Pelousy and 0bama in office, I am perfectly comfortable with total gridlock until 0bama's term is finished. I'd rather it be this way, than see my elected officials go against what I've voted them in for. "Business" will adjust. The democrats won't. Piss on the lot of them. Go stomp your feet and hold your breath if you don't like it.

Hm? I did not realize that abortions or same sex marriages rely on federal funding.

Spin it any way you wish, but the awful, awful Republicans did nothing extraordinary: they have refused to endorse continuation of budgeting on Democratic terms, that's all. Their prerogative.

The government shutdowns had happened 17 times since 1975.

Would it be preferable to avoid such measures? Yes, of course, generally speaking. But we do have different groups of people in this country, with different ideas and often poorly compatible agendas. Sometimes these agendas collide and create "situations" like this one. It's normal. It would be much worse, if everyone was marching along, like a monolithic army of lemmings following the leader toward the nearest cliff - would it not?

I can't answer your question because its a flawed question. The dictator in charge of the oval office refuses to work with the legislative body the people elected; he wants it his way or the high way. What is next he says turn in all guns for confiscation before he agrees to sign a budget?

I submit the cause is NOT a very small group, it's the whole damn bunch of them.

precedent?... it's kinda cute that you believe this is the first time this has ever happened.... it's completely wrong, but cute.

every time we have had a "shutdown", liberals turn to their doomsday nightmares.... nothing they say ever comes true, but dammit, there are loyal to those narratives.

A narrow margin of people elected him. To the 48% who didn't...we got the middle finger. I guess 0bama really only cares about the ones who swore eternal loyalty to him.

That' why it needs to be dealt with NOW. There is a lot at stake. We have had enough. Our country is better than a few bad apples that need coring.

your fearmongering is absolute bull****.... not a shred of validity.

the GOP has had an opportunity every single day since 1973 to shutdown the government over abortion, but hasn't... why is it that you believe it will happen NOW ?

what is so evil about a delay in rolling out the individual mandate?.... your man delayed the business mandate for a year, so don't sell me on this being so very evil... it's bull****.

Obama doesn't want the individual mandate rolling out at election time... and that is why Democrats deem this the most important thing ever to happen to this country.

I'll bet there's a compromise ot be made that would keep everyone happy.... maybe delaying the mandate for a year, but allowing folks to still sign up of they want to ?
the only thing that would be off the table is the penalties for not buying insurance.

oh sorry, it's not a penalty, it's a tax... a tax you can't be criminally prosecuted for not paying.

Actually if you look back at all the past shutdowns this one is unique. This is the turning point for the nation, we are no longer a Constitutional Republic, henceforth we will be living under socialism. Why aren't you commies happy?

You know when it comes to our Govt. and our proud traditions us Americans get a little testy when they are threatened.
Patriotism is something you either have or you don't.

Patriotism isn't about loving your government... it never has been.

Compared to the non-margin of people who elected Bush, since your post is saying it was a narrow margin for Obama.
The further delegitimizing of Obama is a 24/7 routine for Republicans, and ACA is just another casualty of that.
Especially when more Americans like ACA than Obamacare.

If I had to guess, it'd be Social Security. To "negotiate" on funding or reform (aka privatizing) or Medicare (again, to "negotiate" on provisions, they say...to gut it so it will wither on the vine, as they've said before).
