Dr. Fauci was given another chance to testify before the Democratic House of Representatives recently -- just a few months after Trump blocked him from addressing the chamber after insisting it’s full of “Trump haters.”
In his remarks, Dr. Fauci tried to explain that America’s surging caseload was because of the country’s failure to shut down completely -- contrasting the U.S. with European countries that had committed to a total lockdown and are now seeing reduced cases as a result.
But Trump issued a statement saying Dr. Fauci was “wrong!” -- and that increased caseloads were due to increased testing. Of course, every leading medical expert agrees that testing does not “create cases,” as Trump claims.
At this point, even members of Trump’s own administration are admitting testing efforts have fallen behind. Dr. Fauci is clearly trying to get us all to the point where so many of our European allies are: safely re-opened and enjoying a somewhat normal summer. But Trump is committed to smearing his top doctor every chance he gets
