As you surely know, I love Smallvile. The season 5 premeire is on tonight. By the looks of it, Clark will finally make the leap from superboy to superman, well almost. I guess Lex will finally embrace his dark side. And the ship that crashed in Smallville last season, will contain 2 kryptonians looking for Clark, aka Kal-El.

O man, there are no words to describe tonights show! Clark has lost his powers for now.:3oops: His biological father told him if he didn't return to the "fortress of solitude" by sundown, he would suffer grave consequences.

And now Clark knows that Chloe knows his secret. She is cool about it.Lex is cleary on the brink of turning bad. They had alot of cliffhanger's to resolve, it was hard to fit them all in 1 hour. Anyway, it's just a matter of time till Clark gets his powers back, he will probably go back to the fortress of solitude and beg Jor-El (his father) for them.

I was watching the movie Superman 2 the other day, and I have to say, they have great special effects for the early eighties! I was impressed. This must have been a real high-budget film. Smallville, especially this season, is really starting to follow the superman mythology. Heck, they even brought Brainiac into the mix (the movies didn't, the comics did), the kryptonians, who pleaded allegiance to General Zod, where banished to the Phantom Zone. I really liked when Clark found the Fortress of Solitude, and when Clark and Chloe had the "talk". The only things that stray from Superman mythology is the part of Chloe Sullivan- not in continueance, and Lex Luthor, it's really different portaying him and Clark as friends.

I fear the new dark look of the superman movies coming out.

Reeve is the only superman that I know and fell in love with.

Yes, Brandon Routh is the new superman. Personally, I think they should have casted Tom Welling, but from what I heard, he didn't want anything to do with the role.

Yea, Reeve was an awesome superman.

Superman mythology

I'm pretty much writing this cause I'm bored. O well, where should I begin. Superman is an alien, he isn't from earth. He was born on the planet called Krytpon, hundreds of light years away from earth, and not in our galaxy.Krypton revolved around a red sun, so everyone on krypton was just like normal people. When krypton exploded,Jor-el and kara (Kal-el's parents) sent baby supes to earth in a spaceship. We have a yellow sun. That's where Superman's powers come from, some may refer to him as a "solar battery." So, when the sun goes down every night, he has more than enough energy stored to combat this problem. He is practically invulnerable, except for the fact that green kryptonite makes him weak. Green kryptonite is actually pieces of the planet krypton, which exploded, and fell to earth in a meteor shower. Red kryptonite, on the other hand, makes Clark have no inhibitions. Kind of "high", he has no morals, or priorities.

Clark's powers include:

Super hearing - can hear a conversation going on miles away
Super speed- can run at hyper-sonic speeds
Super strength- catches cars like they're frisbies
Invulnerability- nothing, except green kryptonite, can harm him
X-Ray vision- can see through things
Heat vision- can emit heat rays from his eyes

Superman's power's

The same as above, just a few more:

Flight- can fly at close to the speed of light, can make interstellar trips in a few short hours.
Speed reading- that ties in with super speed, Clark hadn't figured this out yet.
Telescopic vision- things miles away seem like inches away
Freeze breath- can freeze things with his breath
Tornado breath?- ties in with freeze breath- can simulate heavy gusts of wind by simply blowing

I wasn't very happy with the season premire.
There were too many commercials for a premire, I think at one point we had 6 minutes of show in between commercials.

Also, I was SCREAMING at Clark (even though he can't hear me) to get his ASS back to the friggin' Fortress of Solitude.
Hopefully tomorrow night's episode will be better.

Yea, it will be intresting to see how he acts without his powers. even though he will eventually get them back, I mean c'mon if he dosen't what good is the show anyway? I liked the premeire, but their were too many cliffhangers to be solved in 45 minutes. The WB should have made it like 1hr and a half, or even 2hrs.

I was also disappointed in the ease of which Clark disposed of the two renegades from Krypton.

Yea, It would have been cool to see him use his powers a little more. It was pretty lame.

I never really like superman. He has too many powers, and for some reason despite how "incredibly rare" it's supposed to be, EVERYONE has kryptonite. I do think the darker approach of the upcoming movie could be very interesting. Until I saw Kill Bill Vol. 2 I had absolutely no respect for Superman, but when Bill starts talking about the uniqueness of his alter ego being Clark Kent and his true self being Superman, I had a little more respect.

Come to think of it, I was never in to any of the DC comic characters. Marvel seemed to always have more compelling stories.

Yea, I was never into Superman either until 2000, when I was on house arrest. I had nothing better to do, but whatch tv. After I saw a couple episodes of smallville, I was hooked! I never looked back.

I was converted to Smallvilleism in Iraq at the beginning of this year.
I was only there for 4 months this 2nd deployment and I had my laptop with me, Haji always sells bootleg DVDs and Haji's DVD quality has increased alot since my first deployment, they have bootleg American Show Seasons in Boxed Sets... Kinda cool,
I bought Seasons 1-3 for 50 american dollars.
I watched all three seasons in like.. 3 days or less.

I had nothing better to do between guard shifts.

Wow, you watched a whole season a day? Let me ask you a question Caine, if you oppose this war, then why did you go over there? Did you oppose it right from its inception?

I was already in the military before 9/11.
I was actually in Basic Training when it happened, I remember doing "Washer and Dime" Drills on the lawn near our barracks when a Drill SGT from one of the other training companies came by and told the Drill SGT who was overlooking our training.
The military, for Us in basic training, handled it very poorly. To quote a friend of mine in basic training at the time, "We are being treated like Mushroom, fed **** and kept in the dark." Unless you were from New York City, they didn't let us know much. I never saw a video of the 9/11 attacks until after I was out of training.
When I first deployed to Iraq in February 14th (lovely for a 2 week newlywed) 2003, I was convinced that our government had evidence to support that Iraq really DID have WMD. Being a Chemical Operations Specialist, I was the only person in my Infantry Company that had extensive training on defense and decontamination of chemical attacks on soldiers. Every soldier knows how to protect themselves, It was my job to plan/co-ordinate/execute a full decontamination for my company in the event of such an attack on us. I was a bit nervous about this, but I felt proud that I had importance in the unit, as I was only a PFC at the time (E-3).
After I spent a year there my first deployment, I got caught up on all the issues that were being brought up about the invasion, and I that is what led me to my decision of being against the war.

Alright, cool. Yea our troops are America's backbone. I totally support them, its just that their keen sense of obligation and duty are being taken advantage of.

That and the fact that we are obligated by the Uniform Code Of Military Justice.

I DEFINATELY didn't want to go the 2nd time, even though it was only 4 months.
We left Dec 04...10 months after our return from a year long deployment. Other than that, I knew what we would do... nothing, I spend 4 months in Iraq this last deployment, I worked 4-8 hours per day doing actual duties. So now you see how I had the time to watch Smallville so much.
Besides this, I was graduated from the Army's Primary Leadership Development Course, a one month lockdown (live in barracks away from home, lights out, that sort of thing) course on leadership for SGT E-5s. I was graduated after 3 weeks so that I could return to my unit and deploy.
I left for PLDC on Nov 9th, I went from Nov 9th until Nov 30th in PLDC lockdown, was graduated early, had 6 days to prepare for deployment, and then deployed, leaving my wife again. That sucked!

The reason I left the Army was because one day I plan on raising a family, And I don't want my child to not know his father except for 10 months every two or three years. The deployment tempo is not only annoying to single soldiers, it is ruining many military marriages and families. This is not the way I want to raise my family, So, I decided to get out when my term of service ended.

Well thank-you for your service, if it weren't for you guys, I wouldn't have the freedoms I do now. I sincerely apologize for this Administration putting you guys in this position. it is criminal!

Yea, I'm already counting down the hours till the next episode is on. It is entitled "mortal". I've read the WB's official description, and alls I know is Clark and Lex get into a fistfight, and Clark and Lana sleep together.

Well there goes another episode."Mortal" was sub-par. I found it rather lame compared to the usual Smallville standards. Next week's episode looks promising though.

From what I read and saw, Braniac (James Marsters) plays a role in the episode, and Clark gets shot, it showed him in the hospital with the doctors putting a sheet over his head like he was dying? C'mon superman dying? I think Jor-el will give him back his powers. Taking them away was just a test, so he would learn how to use his brain to save, that's all.

So this is where the battling minds go on vacation.
