The video is absolutely insane. Reading about it does not do it justice. One reported wounded and a cameraman took two bullets to his body armor.

Harrowing video.
The news team can depend on their employer to rescue them, unlike Ukrainian civilians who are on their own.

The only way to describe 20th century style conventional warfare is calamitous. That is why I was somewhat outraged at CNN trying to turn the Nigerians at the Polish border into some sort of racial incident story. This sort of war is sheer calamity and terror. If any system, transportation or otherwise works at all, its a miracle. Many of you here have never seen this kind of war before. You still are not as the bodies are removed from the burned out trucks before they are put on video and other bodies are still buried under the rubble of broken buildings.

As for the Sky crew, they are as they said "lucky to be alive". If you are a correspondent you don't just go galavanting around in your van in this sort of environment. You pick a side and you follow them into battle, mostly in the rear with the gear. I suspect, this crew has still not learned its lesson as they have never been in this environment before.

You'd be very, very wrong. Perhaps you didn't read the story? These are experienced war correspondents. The difference here is that Putin is directly targeting journalists.

If you are going to drive a van, out in the open and unescorted through those streets, you run a substantial risk of being attacked. Have the Russians failed to attack anything in front of them that moves so far???????? Have they shied away from attacking civilians or more specifically anything mobile and moving? If the Russians are specifically attacking journalists does that not make it that much more absurd for Journalists to hang their asses out in the open like that?

Not sure how experienced they are with this kind of warfare.

Still didn't read the story. They were traveling on routes deemed safe at the time of their departure and return. They weren't "galavanting". It's apparent you have no journalism background. Just opinions.

Do you see anything "safe" in a city under attack where there are known to be snipers and special forces squads actively engaged in ambush? There is no such thing as safe in that environment....OBVIOUSLY.

My point is they don't appear to be experienced with this kind of warfare. If they were, they would follow troopers into fights not "galavant" unescorted.

In fact, if you saw the video of this particular ambush, the ambushers appear to figure out that they are journalists or else with no actual firepower of their own, just a guy with a camera, they would have been picked off while running away from the van. They were just as much sitting ducks outside the van as they were in it...if not more.

Apparently not.... you don't recognize how internally inconsistent your posts are?
