Fair point I must have missed that my first read through.I know. I mentioned that in my post. It is not a tariff. That’s why the beginning of that link says it applies a zero percent duty on nearly all tariff lines.
The GST applies to local goods and imports. Tariffs are applied to imports only.
Trump doesn't want to destroy the WTO. Try not to engage in hyperbole, eh?Destroying the World Trade Organisation is not "best for the USA" it is the act of an economically illiterate imbecile.
WTO is a system that worked for everyone except the good'ol USA. Of course they want to keep the system going. Free trade never was free trade. Other countries cashed in on the mighty America consumer and his/her propensity to use debt to fund their lifestyles. We have a trillion dollar trade deficit and 12 trillion dollars of consumer debt to show for it. Clearly it's not sustainable. What needs to happen is America needs to once again become a exporter nation, we need to rebuild middle class manufacturing jobs, instead of sending dollars overseas other countries should be buying our products in return for us buying theirs. It's going to be a uphill battle to get there but you got to start somewhere. This is the first step.
Mycroft, I am amused at the people who don't realize we have a new boss, and that the globalists are no longer in charge. People like Blinken, Obama, Soros and his son Mini-Me who were regulars at the Rainbow House placating and kissing every other country's ass like Neville Chamberlains. Now rich leftists are losing money and paying protesters to get Trump to fold. This is all for the midterms when they are trying to take back their power. Just like they used Covid and 1-6 before.shrug...
It's fine that he would rather rely on the WTO. But the Globalists control the WTO. His country is small enough that the Globalists don't care about Singapore, but the same cannot be said about the US.
Bottom line is that Trump MUST pay attention to what's best for the US...not what's best for Singapore.
Each Trump and Musk is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business and Finance at the privately owned and operated University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Wharton is an expensive school for the stupid rich who can't get into a legitimate college or university. Each of 'em transferred in for their final two years of undergrad work and a funny money degree. Different times that's all, same funny money degree.Destroying the World Trade Organisation is not "best for the USA" it is the act of an economically illiterate imbecile.
There's no possibility whatsoever of a single universal global currency and a Global Central Bank for everyone. And certainly not overnight in a crisis.I wouldn't be surprised if the world writ-large made a determined effort to abandon the US dollar as the global currency.
When in the 1960s Lee Kwan Yew and his people got kicked out of Malaysia to the sleepy jungle island called Singapore Taiwan swooped in to the rescue. That was when Taiwan was called the Portuguese explorers name of Formosa, meaning flower. Here’s the sad reality: Singaporeans have gotten rich off of “free trade.” Working-class Americans have gotten sodomized, and they’re tired of it.
Futile. Ain't gonna happen. You squandered your inheritance and nothing is going to get it back for you.WTO is a system that worked for everyone except the good'ol USA.
