After seeing one person in particular dominating this forum with their numerous and biased polls, I ask you:

Should there be a per-person limit on polls over some time period?

Should polls be prescreened by staff in order to determine their questions allow for all possible answers, so to not skewer the results?

The great thing about DP is that you can prity much say what you want, be as biased as you want. The facilitation of speaking *free* is what seporates DP from, say, Democraticunderground.

No limit, no screaning.

If something is truly inapropriet the Mod team will deal with it accordingly.

As a member of the moderator staff here-- and as someone similarly irritated by crap polls-- I have to say that I do not think this is a good idea.

The spirit and the purpose of these forums is political discourse based upon the principle of free speech. By suggesting that polls must be pre-screened before posted, I believe it sends a message that the views within those polls are being pre-screened as well. It would have a chilling effect on the free speech this board thrives upon.

Better to let the trolls have their fun, and move useless polls to the Basement to be argued over there.

Inappropriate material should be moved. The rest will work itself out. Less Intervention. SMALLER Government, SMALLER SMALLER smaller smaller

Not to mention, we hardly have the time to pre approve every poll!

That would be censorship....I am surprised that a Liberal would suggest that.............

Although obviously agenda driven, biased polls, posted with no real intention to debate can be annoying, I would not support either approving or limiting polls in any way. The moderation staff can handle innappropriate polls/threads as soon as we see them or as soon as they are reported. I think that overmoderation would make for a less enjoyable and interesting site.

I'm glad to see that for the most part, we all agree. Even Navy Pride.

I don't think we should limit any amount of posts anywhere. If you look at this forum, it's one of the most active forums with some of the most lively debates. I wouldn't want to limit the amount at all.

And screening for bias would be too difficult and would inevitably become arbitrary judgement calls. Besides, half the threads in this forum would be gone.

Many polls are made slanted towards a certain response, yes, but this just helps to encourage debate. For the most part it doesn't yield any more flaming than any other thread, just the same every-3-posts-or-so amount.

Perhaps the simplest approach would be to create some program that would automatically deposit all of the offending party's postings in the basement, since there is never any intent to discuss, but only to bash in a simple minded fashion.

I think most of the time bias is in the eye of the beholder. For example if you want our troops to loose the war in Iraq you may refuse to answer a poll asking if you want our troops to loose the war in Iraq by crying bias or that it is a loaded poll.
