i think that the senate and house reps should not get paid during any shutdown of the gov. or if they cannot reach an agreement on debt cieling past the due date... what do you think????

I agree, but they are. In fact, in addition to not getting paid they should lose all their benefits during that period AND they should be fined every day they don't have a budget. The leadership, times ten.

If our government bodies cannot do their jobs on time, then no they should not be paid.

Unfortunately, it isn't realistic to think this would happen.

blame the 27th ammendment.

congresses pay can not be changed or negotiated until the next election. not one of our founding fathers best thought out amendments.

i suggest locking both the house and senate in one room, without access to media or cameras, and don't let them out until they have a deal made

There is no government shut down. The government is humming right along and has spent over 100 billion dollars since the house refused to raise the credit limit. But if it were shut down then I suppose these comments would be appropriate.
