Simple question. Yes, No, It depends, or the inevitable <insert empty political slogan of your choice>

No. The president should be worrying about the multiple humanitarian crises we're facing not starting drama fights with celebrities that would make soap opera writers blush.

Should the president be able to talk about NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem. Yes!
He can make suggestions to the NFL? Yes, but the owners have the final say as to what is allowed in the NFL.

So did you complain when Obama got involved in the Zimmerman case to give HIS suggestions?

Exactly. Puerto Rico is proper ****ed and this asshole needs to push his knuckledragger supporters to boycott a private enterprise.

I recall Obama calling Kanye West a jackass or something like it for taking up Taylor Swift's time at one of the dozens of award shows we have every year. My point is that presidents, for better or worse, will from now until the end of time comment on pop culture. Do I wish he'd kept out of it? I really do. It was a lot easier to ignore before he said anything, however, I think the reason this is being talked about like it's the end of the First Amendment (which actually has nothing to do with it), is simply because folks don't like what he said. That simple.

and the right attacked Obama for it. so why isn't the right attacking Trump for this instead of defending it. Yes, YOU may be saying that Trump shouldn't be commenting on this but the vast majority of Trump supporters are not.

EDIT: And just FYI, I think Obama was in the wrong commenting on things like the Zimmerman case and pop culture as well. I think it is highly unprofessional and Trump has just brought it to a new low.

I voted "Yes". There's nothing wrong with a President using the office a bully pulpit. Every President does it .

I think telling a company they fire someone that hasn't committed a crime is pretty suspect but...like everything else, Trump takes everything that is common for the Prez and ramps it up times a million

Not such a simple question so I didn't vote. Of course the president can't order them what to do but he can use his position as a bully pulpit. I know Democrats don't seem to give a flying **** about respecting our country but it is a common theme with conservatives. Trump has every right to use his position to demand respect for our country, our flag, and our national anthem. Of course freedom usually, in most cases (not in the NFL), allows you to disrespect our country, our flag, and our anthem, if that is what you so choose to do. But, the president has every right to influence public opinion against the NFL for disrespecting our country and if it hurts them in attendance and ratings, too bad. I'm right on the edge of the cliff regarding the NFL so if they keep up with their nonsense then I may be gone. I already gave up on baseball due to their last strike where the babies were complaining they weren't getting paid enough.

He certainly has the right to say his opinion on what they should do. Whether he should have or not has far as what looks good on him... idk it puts the nfl in a corner, could be a long term win and short term loss, could just be a loss.

so you supported Obama's right commenting on police brutality and the Zimmerman case and didn't say that he shouldn't be commenting about those as president correct?

Correct. He had the right to do it. Do you support our court system that found Zimmerman not guilty? Do you support our court system that found Darren Wilson not guilty? Do you support our court system?

depends
If the NFL were to discriminate based on ..national origin, ect. , etc..then, YES
OR , IF the NFL were to not care one iota about ones health (concussions) then, yes !
Otherwise ...............
Its good, IMO, that we have an ''active'' President ..If he knows what he is doing .

Trump has a habit of toying with the SJW agenda whenever he has a chance. And whenever he does he has the majority
of Americans with him. Winning, it's a habit with this president.

Presidents do tell companies how to do things. This is nothing new. Something that a lot of people miss is that the government is essentially become a stakeholder in pretty much all private enterprise including the NFL through subsidies.

I'm not saying that that gives them a right to dictate how the companies are run, but any other venture capitalist will demand that a company run a certain way even in the private sector.

Should they. No.
Do they? Yes.
Can they? Yes.

But again, that's the beauty of living in a society where while Presidents rage about things, they almost never exert direct control. If they did, we'd be on the path towards socialism.
