Should The Confederate States Be Expelled From The US?

I mean they were traitors. We currently have a Virginia governor and the Virginia attorney general who wore blackface in college. We have confederate monuments. We have cities, streets, schools, and other things named after Confederates. We have license plates on cars and flags flying at people's homes and many who live in those states are descendants from Confederates and we even have Confederate cemeteries to honor the traitors. If there are so many people who are descendants of traitors then there are not a viable amount of people left to even govern the states. Or, do we just pass a law saying that only blacks can govern the ex Confederate states? Or, should we just kick their traitor asses out of the United States for being traitors? Forgiveness of the past is not allowed. Anything or anyone connected with the Confederacy or the KKK, no matter how long ago, will be destroyed. No exceptions.
Is there an actual point in all this ^^ ridiculousness?

Your post reminds me of conservatives hatred towards both legal and undocumented immigrants from the south.

In the west, we have cities, streets, schools, and other things that have Hispanic names. We have American flags flying at Hispanics people's homes and many who live in those homes are descendants of immigrants from Mexico, South and Central America. We even honor the Hispanic-American veterans interred at Santa Fe National and other Cemeteries.

Forgiveness requires someone to admit their errors and ask for forgiveness. Yet all I hear from the descendants of southern traitors is their pride in their slave owning forefathers.

It doesn't seem practical to kick their traitorous asses out of the United States. But ending the glorification of these past traitors by destroying or moving their monuments to private property, would go a long way to heal old wounds. I'll take hard working immigrants fleeing prosecution, seeking freedom and hard work over descendants of slave owners who take pride in the Confederacy or the KKK, no matter how long ago, no exceptions....

Why did you sit down and actually type this nonsense?

One thing the left fail to understand is that many who fought and died in the war as Confederates didn't do so because they were traitors and many on the Union side who fought and died didn't do so out of anything more than fighting for their country, not because they were against slavery. I bet many Union soldiers didn't give a crap about freeing slaves. People of the North fought for their states while those in the South fought for the states they lived in. To label every Confederate soldier as a traitor is a crime in and of itself. Take the Vietnam war for example, or any other war. Most of them are fighting for their country, not because they had an ax to grind against Communists, terrorists, or whatever. Many join just to have a job or to get an education, or motivations beyond what the war is actually about. In fact, many have enlisted while we weren't even fighting a war. The left seem to believe Confederate soldiers had one and only one motivation - to be traitors or to fight for slavery.

One thing the right compulsively and pathologically lies about is the fact that Confederates were traitors. There were no exceptions.

Odd how the right continuously and reliably glamorizes and honor treason.

The Confederates may have been traitors, but the states were reabsorbed into the Union following the war. There may be a strange hero-worshiping culture surrounding the Confederacy still today, but there is no need to expel states.

That's a result of Reconstruction. It created a lot of Confederate sympathizers out of people who were pro-Union.

I really liked this post, except your unfortunate lumping of all us Southerners into one bigoted pot. I don’t believe that’s your true feeling (at least I hope not), but just want to make clear that there are a great many of us with roots in the South going back to the time of slavery who absolutely do not make excuses for our ancestors actions and would very much like to see every single Confederate statue, and other hateful symbol of the Confederacy taken down and destroyed or put into museums.

You are aware that the Confederacy used conscription, right? A lot of those men you refer to as traitors weren’t given any choice, and many who volunteered did so because of a misguided sense of loyalty to their friends who were joining, and their state’s leaders who filled their heads with false propaganda.

I believe the defeat its self was enough punishment. But yes, they were traitors who were hell bent on keeping their slave quarters. The Souths entire economy was built on free labor. States rights my ass, it was about money.

Honor your dead, mourn the loss, but dont glorify the Cause. Germany now erects monuments to their WWII dead, not the cause they died for, and so they should.

Yes, I am aware of that. Doesn't change a thing for me.

Similar to Lincoln's time, the federal government needs their tax revenue. That's why they will stay.

Maybe you should learn history and stop fantasizing about the past. Join the rest of us in the 21st century condemning treason and the murder of Americans.

And spare us the internet Dr. Phil. What pansy crap.

You are living in the past. This is 2019. History is history for a reason. We aren't supposed to obsess over what Rome did 2000 years ago.

I'm not talking about Confederate soldiers. The Confederacy was obviously traitorous. I understand it is more complicated on the individual soldier level, but I don't understand why we should worship monuments to the movement itself.

Some of those monuments are about the great lives people had before the Confederacy. And, as you mentioned, there are monuments to the everyday John Smith Confederate soldier. Even Lincoln thought it was important to forgive and move on.

Oh Jesus. Are you black? I'll listen to you if you are. Otherwise, you have no wounds. That's what SJW's are.

It's what the SJW'rs do every day.

Yes SJWs like you and Trumptard who tell people they can’t take a knee during the national anthem. Your comments are proven hypocritical Bull**** non-moderate fascist.

I already posted several reasons why John Smith soldier fighting for the confederates were not traitors. Your hatred and intolerance of others and the need to demonize everyone knows no bounds. There were many soldiers who were caught up in something they had no control over, just as there were German soldiers under Hitler who had no choice but to fight alongside Hitler.

I hate treason. You clearly love it.

Why do you hate America and what it stands for?
