I think it's really silly that except in certain counties of Nevada, prostitution is illegal.

Who is it hurting?

I think it's pretty much a victimless crime that should be regulated and taxed.

Prostitutes should be mandated to get licenses from their sate if they want to do it, and their earnings should be legitimately counted and taxed like all other occupation wages.

What do you think? Should it be legal in all 50 states? Could you support it being legal in all 50 states?

Would you encourage it to become legal in all 50 states?

No it should not. Sex is in a different category in our society.

there’s a reason why we have a sex offender registry but no violent crime/murderer registry.

Make it legal

Republicans are so warped in their views. Killing is ok, sex isn't. Gun control, hell no. Sex control, hell yes. The moral right who supports a ***** grabbing, wife cheating porn star screwing pathological liar. What's not to like about trump?

I would like to see not only prostitution, but also gambling and drug use to be legalized. Let people make choices. BTW- I don't do any of the things mentioned but my choice should not be imposed on others.

Define Prostitution?

Prostitution is the act of providing, or offering to provide, sexual services in exchange for compensation.

Define compensation?

The word compensation comes from the Latin verb compensare, which means to “weigh against”.

Yes it should, but for the reasons I often mention on other subjects where the government says no to something there is a economic demand for. Ultimately sending all of it 'underground' to criminal enterprise has its own set of social and economic consequences. Between consenting adults it should not matter what happens but morality based laws tend to not care about these things.

I would go so far as to say sending all of this to criminal enterprise has cascaded into other problems, such as trafficking and and the involvement of minors.

We have often made a mess of these things because the weight of the political opinion ends up ignoring the consequences, and we do this time and time again across history with other subjects such as alcohol, or drugs, and to some extent we are headed down this road with guns.

Education and understanding will get us much further in dealing with our social faults than "no, you cannot" laws.

Why is it that the first thing on Democrats minds is regulations and taxes. This they believe will raise revenue.

If voluntary sex has a victim, let's hear more about that. Victims need laws to cover crimes against them.'

If you tax and regulate whores, what about the girls and women having sex with benefits? Do you force the common girl to get a license and pay taxes when she has sex? Are you creating a special class of human?

and what does that have to do with prostitution and my point that most of society both liberal and conservative see sex in a different category than other actions

(PDF) Prostitution and Trafficking in Nine Countries

We interviewed 854 people currently or recently in prostitution in 9 countries (Canada, Colombia, Germany, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, United States, and Zambia), inquiring about current and lifetime history of sexual and physical violence. We found that prostitution was multitraumatic: 71% were physically assaulted in prostitution; 63% were raped; 89% of these respondents wanted to escape prostitution, but did not have other options for survival. A total of 75% had been homeless at some point in their lives; 68% met criteria for PTSD. Severity of PTSD symptoms was strongly associated with the number of different types of lifetime sexual and physical violence. Our findings contradict common myths about prostitution: the assumption that street prostitution is the worst type of prostitution, that prostitution of men and boys is different from prostitution of women and girls, that most of those in prostitution freely consent to it, that most people are in prostitution because of drug addiction, that prostitution is qualitatively different from trafficking, and that legalizing or decriminalizing prostitution would decrease its harm.

Does Legalized Prostitution Increase Human Trafficking? by Seo-Young Cho, Axel Dreher, Eric Neumayer :: SSRN
"This paper investigates the impact of legalized prostitution on human trafficking inflows. According to economic theory, there are two opposing effects of unknown magnitude. The scale effect of legalized prostitution leads to an expansion of the prostitution market, increasing human trafficking, while the substitution effect reduces demand for trafficked women as legal prostitutes are favored over trafficked ones. Our empirical analysis for a cross-section of up to 150 countries shows that the scale effect dominates the substitution effect. On average, countries where prostitution is legal experience larger reported human trafficking inflows."

Maybe it will be "renamed" as "Sex Therapy" and those who practice it can perform their Therapy.... for compensation.

Imagine how many people after a prostrate surgery would become a huge customer base. Or for women who have had some type of vaginal are surgical procedure would become a huge customer base.... or people with various other conditions.
