Should prosecutors be evaluated on their conviction rates?

What are the strengths and weaknesses of such a metric?
 
The strengths of course is rating prosecutors by conviction rates incentivizes prosecutors to do a good job. On the flip side, if left uncheck, it could also breed stat padding by going after rather weak cases.

Along with misconduct resulting in withholding evidence that points to the innocence of defendants, and other similar aspects of misconduct
 
Yes. And if they convict innocent people of crimes they should be given the same sentence that they doled out.

When it comes to prosecutors, the market kind of does that anyway.

The more $$ you have, the more likely you are to go to ones with the higher conviction rates...and those arent secret.

at least be disbarred along with the judge that allowed it to happen in their courtroom.

Actually, job #1 for a prosecutor is justice. As an agent of state power, you dont bring every case referred to you, and you dont allow ADA’s to pile charges high and wide, and you dont take plea bargains that are wide of the core issue.

A high conviction rate only means you brought the cases that had merit.

I think that the same sentence that the innocent was given would be sufficient. Anything less is a spit in the face of the innocent but I would not be against the prosecutor or Judge being handed a death sentence either. The Chinese do this and it shows how serious they are about the law... we in the USA crap on the poor as the politicians and high lever ones in the Court System laugh their asses off at the corruption that they pull off.
