Should party's use lame duck sessions for their advantage against will of voters?

In Wisconsin two high positions in the Government changed hands during the 2018 election, that of Governor and the Attorney General. The GOP will continue to control the legislature but knows that it soon will not be able override a veto by the new Dem governor so they are going to try and reduce the power of both. If this is not bad enough they are going to change the election dates so that the presidential and house elections are separated from the election for the state supreme court election. They believe doing this will make it easier for the right wing court member who has been placed on the court by the present GOP governor to be elected. This will cost the state over 7 million dollars. We have seen this happen in other states controlled by the GOP. DO you think that this is ethical? I am not asking if it is legal, as it might be, but does it not reflect a belief by the GOP n some states that they should not listen to the voice of the people?

Well, we do know that the will of the voters over the last eight years threw out over 1000 Democrats and replaced them with Republicans to the point where, under Obama, voters voted in a Republican House and Senate and yet Democrats did nothing but play the resistance against the will of the voters. Then, since Trump has been president, the will of the voters voted in a Republican president, a House, and the Senate and yet Democrats have formed the resistance against the will of the voters. And, even coming up in 2019, voters have voted in Republicans for 2/3's of the government and the Democrats are still going to play the resistance against the will of the voters.

AH, but in Wisconsin the new Dem governor ran on a platform of taking the expanded Medicaid so that 75 thousand more people in Wisconsin are covered by health insurance. It was his biggest issue. Now the GOP in the lame duck session are passing a law saying that there can be no change in the health care system, So the people of Wisconsin voted for a governor making that his main proposal and the GOP is blocking it. Does that sound like the GOP is doing the "WILL " of the people. It does not to me. And this state has been so gerrymandered by the GOP that it will be impossible for the Dems to get control until the courts finally finish ending the gerrymandering the GOP has done.

So, you are admitting that both sides do it. You are talking about one state. I'm talking about an entire country that lefties refuse to go with the will of the people. This thread rings hollow and is filled with massive hypocrisy. When are the left going to acknowledge the will of the people for the entire country?

Let me see, the Dems had over 8 million more votes in the last election than the GOP. Would you not say that the people have spoken and they say they are with the Dems rather than the GOP. And over the past two years the GOP had total control of our government and all they seem to have done is pass a massive tax bill that not only favors the wealthy, but it has incentives for companies to move their operations overseas. That and filling the courts with business controlled judges that are there to insure future control of our government by the GOP, thus insuring that the businesses can do what they want.

Trump was legitimately elected. How about going back before Trump though? Voters voted out over 1000 Democrats and replaced them with Republicans, giving Republicans both the House and the Senate and yet the left and Obama refused to bend to the will of the people. Republicans currently have the presidency, the House, and the Senate, and yet the resistance is in full force against the will of the people. Even in 2019 we will have a Republican President and Senate and yet the House will be in full resistance mode. I mean, let's call a spade a spade. Republicans are going against the will of the people in Wisconsin and Democrats are and have been going against the will of the people nationwide. Can you admit that, or are you going to stick to your partisan babble that only one side does it?

The voters elected them, did they not?

SENATE = GOP

POTUS =GOP

2>1.

Man, it's hilariously to watch you cower at the results of the Blue Wave that you were compelled to admit actually took place.

And this is about a state gov't, not the feds.

You're welcome!

Experts say that Wisconsin is the most gerrymandered state in the union. Because of the gerrymandering, the only offices that now show the will of the people is the governor and the Attorney general, where the GOP can not gerrymander the other party out of winning an election. And how could the Dems be against the will of the people in the country where the GOP controlled both the executive and the legislative branches of our government. The Dems could not stop anything that the GOP could do and yet, the GOP did basically nothing as they had no agenda except to cut taxes for their wealthy donors, which they did. They could not even vote to end the ACA. So don't blame the Dems for the problems that the GOP has had for the past two years, that is all on the shoulders of Trump and the GOP. And don't be a hypocrite about the Dems just saying no to Trump and the GOP, isn't that what the GOP did to Obama. I remember McConnell saying that they would make Obama a one term president.

Trump received 63M votes vs. his opponent's 66M in 2016. GOP Senate candidates received 34M votes vs. Dem Senate candidates' 50M last month. House GOP candidates received 51M votes vs Dem candidates' 61M last month.

The "will of the people nationwide" is pretty damn obvious at this point.
