Unfortunately, a dangerous precedent was set a decade ago when international recognition was granted by the international community as a whole when Bosnia and Croatia had declared independence and it was recognized shortly after the declarations despite the fact that fighting was going on and Yugoslavia had every right under international law to use force to prevent the fracturing of its national territory.
