Isolated tribes are communities who live without significant contact with modern civilization.

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

We should never violate the prime directive.

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

Yes, and when they finally decide to make contact, have everyone dress up like lizard people or something and really freak them out.

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

No. They should be civilized, and taught the Catholic faith.

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

No. They should be civilized, and taught the Catholic faith.

Why? What did they do to you to bring that amount of punishment upon them?

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

Yes, if they want to be left alone.

and if they don't? burn them at the stake? ever see the movie Aguirre, Der Zorn Gottes (Aguirre the Wrath of God)/ I am sure you'd love what happened to the Amazon basin Indian Couple that claimed they couldn't hear the word of God in the bible

If they don't what? Act civilized? There are certain types of uncivil acts (e.g. infanticide) which should result in death sentences, but as a general rule no.

It goes without saying that the Catholic faith can only be accepted freely, and not through force. All I said is that they should be told about it, as it is the duty of those who have the truth to spread it to the less unfortunate people of the world. If they choose to reject it, that is their own affair, but if they are not told, then it is the fault of Catholics.

Just think of how much better the world would be-especially places like Central and South America if that sort of attitude was in place from about 1100-1700. same with the middle east and those damned crusades

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

If it can be avoided, then sure, ignore them.

I have no love for tribalism and these ultra-regressive societies, but we know what happens when we try to "civilize" people. If we're so civilized, and I'd say we're not fully there yet, then we should have the wisdom to not make the same mistakes our predecessors did and not commit the same sins either.

If it can be avoided.

That has been the teaching of the Church since at least the third century. And the Church strictly forbid forced conversions in the Americas as elsewhere. Note that prohibiting the practice of pagan religions is not equivalent to forcing conversion to Christianity. Overall, the Spanish and Portugese colonial regimes were for the most part just and fair in their administration.

The Crusades of course, were justified defensive wars. The Muslim armies were taking Byzantine land, and they had to be stopped.

this obvious mutation of known history is hysterical

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

If all they want to be left alone not just a few individuals sure, but at the same time we shouldn't hide our presence and technology from them.

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

No. They should be civilized, and taught the Catholic faith.

So you want to change out their paganism for your Paganism that masquerades as Christianity. Real Christians don't pray/venerate saints. The catholic faith is nothing more than the Greek and Roman pagan religions that co-opted Christianity. Just like how the Greeks and Romans had gods for everything and prated to them, the Catholics have saints for everything and pray/venerate to them.

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

Yes, because it ended horribly in every instance. Canada, Greenland, Iceland, and Australia come to mind.

I'm still wondering whether or not he is a troll. Nobody that is that regressive (that I've met anyway) has even remotely been able to handle a computer, let alone a political debate board...

Moderator's Warning:
Alrighty folks, lets keep the personal comments OUT of the discussion. Stick to the topic and nothing but the topic and you'll be fine.

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

.Real Christians don't pray/venerate saints.

Good thing the founders of whichever one of the thousands of rebellious splinter groups you belong to, came along to set all the actual Christians straight.

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

The earth will never belong to man. Man belongs to the earth.

Call it what you will, but agriculture was man's biggest downfall.

Let the people be.

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

 Yes, because that has worked so well in the past.

Indeed, it diid. Most Indians have embraced civilization and Catholicism (remember that more live in Latin America than in the US and Canada). You snicker but without cause.

Re: Should isolated tribes be left alone?

I voted yes but.

I think they should be offered the benefit of our knowledge. If they choose not to use it that is fine. If they wish to be left alone then we should respect their wishes to an extent. However the days of true isolation are over. If they live along a river we need to use to access another civilization they will have to accept that as well. Isolated tribes have fought since the dawn of time over access to land or water for their needs. Civilization will move on with or without them. Many human and animal species have gone extinct if they were not able to adapt or change to an ever changing world. This includes us as well.

You know what happened when they did in Star Trek : Insurrection right?
