In Hawaii, in order to get a permit to buy a gun you must pass a very thorough background check. A permit to buy a handgun is only good for the purchase of one handgun and is only good for ten days. The police also keep records of gun registration. . If the applicant has been diagnosed with a mental illness then a doctor’s approval must be obtained. A permit to buy long guns is good for one year.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, Hawaii has very low gun homicide and suicide rates compared to the rest of the nation. Between 2008 and 2014 Hawaii had a homicide rate of 0.62 per 100,000 compared to a national average of 3.78 per 100,000. During these same years, Hawaii had a gun suicide rate of 2.56 per 100,000 compared to a national average of 6.4 per 100,000.

According to an article published in the American Journal of Public Health, Hawaii has the lowest rate of non-fatal firearm injuries out of all fifty states:

No, and Hawaii's gun hating laws have not been proven to be the reason for the lower crime rates. Hawaii is extremely hateful towards citizens being able to legally carry. Its idiotic gun registration program is also a waste of time.

They have the lowest gun deaths on the country. Huge success

I think Vermont's gun control scheme which is number three safest on your chart

(no laws against concealed or open carry, private sales, very few gun free zones, no gun bans on any kind, even legal for felons to own) will be far cheaper to implement and thus a better value for the injury reduction.

and vermont has sane gun laws and much lower crime rates than many gun hating states. an island with no contact with other land is going to have an easier time controlling crime btw

Except I have ten other states on my side with low gun deaths. Lol

Maryland is a bannerrhoid state and has far far worse rates of gun crime than many gun friendly states for example

all we can honestly state is that crime rates involving the illegal use of firearms are not dependent on the laws of the various states. anti gun laws are no guarantee of less crime, and being gun friendly is no indicator of higher rates of violence

those who push anti gun laws are not motivated by an honest belief that harassing gn owners make the state safer for honest people

I don't care-crime control is not what motivates your desire to harass legal gun ownership

Could it be that they have a lower suicide rate because it is a nice place to live?

Kind of hard to compare Hawaii with Cleveland in January when the snow is 2feet deep, and you are freezing your ass off

But....maybe it is just the guns, right?

No.

You might notice that MD, CA and MA, which all have highly restrictive gun laws, all have much higher non-fatal firearm injuries than HI does. The indication is that restrictive gun laws don't have a direct correlation to reducing gun violence. If that were the case then AZ, with the least restrictive gun laws in the nation, should have firearm incident rates astronomically higher than states with more restrictions.

States with lax gun laws have the most gun deaths

you're lying again. your posting history on this board proves your posts are designed to bait and harass pro gun advocates. and you constantly lie about what other posters say or intend. You dishonestly claim that if someone doesn't support harassment of gun owners, they don't care about people being murdered. that is a dishonest and bogus claim. since you have never been able to prove the harassment you support will make society safer, we don't demonstrate a disregard for innocent life for opposing your silly "solutions" that have no support as doing anything useful.

yawn-prove that the lax laws cause it. prove that gun restrictions, bans, waiting periods, denial of CCW licenses etc prevents suicides because that is the "most gun deaths" main component

Its probably the water....or the air. LOL

States with lax gun laws have the most gun deaths

The firearm homicide rate in CA, the state with the most restrictive gun laws is roughly 3.4/100k. Arizona, the state with the least restrictive gun laws, has a firearm homicide rate of roughly 3.6/100k. Maryland, in the top 5 most restrictive states has a firearm homicide rate of more than 5/100k. Washington DC has a rate of more than 16/100k. Vermont, one of the least restrictive states, has the lowest firearm homicide rate in the nation at less than .5/100k.

Generally speaking, the states with the highest firearm homicide rates do have a commonality. They all have at least one major metropolitan area with serious crime problems. Washington DC has Washington DC. Louisiana has New Orleans. Missouri has St. Louis. Maryland has Baltimore. South Carolina has Charleston. Michigan has Detroit.

I could go on but the common factor in homicide rates is blighted urban settings.

Since when do we need govt permission to exercise a right?
