Should businesses be allowed to discriminate against Republicans and Christians?

Should businesses be able to legally discriminate against Republicans and Christians?

The courts will probably allow businesses to discriminate against gays. Although I'm not gay, I'm kind of okay with it as long as businesses can also discriminate against suspected Republicans and Christians. If I was a business owner, I'd never hire a Republican at the very least, because I wouldn't want my gay employees to potentially get into conflicts with members of a legit hate group. Similarly, if I was a customer or client, I wouldn't want to do business with someone who discriminated against marginalized groups.

What are your thoughts?

Just what would the criteria be to "suspect"?

Businesses shouldn't be allowed to discriminate against someone because of their religion or their sexual orientation. If they are open to the public, then they have to serve the public.

Sure. If you, as a private business owner, want to refuse service to hundreds of millions of people - go ahead.

This should be a very enlightening thread.

Righties in general don't mind discrimination, but they're never consistent in cases of turnabout. So they should claim to oppose THIS kind of discrimination while condoning others.

The answer to the poll is no, but SCOTUS is certainly tying it’s hands on the question in a negative way.

Being a Republican isn’t protected by statute, but being Christian is.

Good point. "No Republicans or Christians Will be Served"

Didn't we clear up what is prohibited some years ago? Not only illegal, but as you point out, bad business.

If they are a public accommodation, no as to Christians.

I doubt the content of one's speech puts on in a protected class, so discriminating against people with certain political views is probably ok (unless that explanation is a cover for discrimination based on membership in a protected class; a front).

Right-wingers tend to have a certain look in their eyes.

You just love to paint with your broad brush, dontcha?

What look to right-wingers tend to have?

Which means less revenue for those businesses that discriminate, and more revenue for their competitors who don't.

The market punishes irrational behavior, while government rewards it.

Get that bullsit out of here. People didn't take down their NO N****RS ALLOWED signs because the Invisible Hand spanked them.

Always with the libertarian revisionism you are.

I think that this is a funny post. LOL

Every successful business employs a business plan and model to exclude potential customers... it is a great way to make money. LOL
