Re: should brest feeding in public be allowed

sorry should have put more options in never posted a poll before o yes of course breast.

Re: should brest feeding in public be allowed

It should always be allowed at all times everywhere and anywhere that the baby becomes hungry and the mother feels it safe to nurse.

Re: should brest feeding in public be allowed

Yes, but at age 45 you really should switch to solid foods.

Re: should brest feeding in public be allowed

That depends. Is brest a euphemism for something?

I agree. I know America was created by prudes but we really need to get over this nudity taboo. There is nothing wrong with breast feeding and it should be allowed anywhere and everywhere as long as the mother does it in a respectable manner.

Re: should brest feeding in public be allowed

go nuts, ladies.

Re: should brest feeding in public be allowed

My wife Tandem Nursed in public once and it freaked the crap outa people. She has nursed both kids in public anywhere for years. Walking through the grocery store with one on her boob and grabbing groceries and putting them in the cart, etc.

Who cares?

Re: should brest feeding in public be allowed

Dont really have a problem with it. Any display of nudity is good. Unless you weigh more then 200 pounds of course. Then put your clothes back on lady. Nobody wanna see your 3rd set of titties.

mikhail - I edited the title for you, as well as added that third option to the poll. :2wave:

I absolutely think that breast feeding should be "allowed" in public. The only reason anyone is offended by it is because breasts have become overly sexualized in our country. Breasts are there precisely to feed our infants; the sexual pleasure side of things is just an added bonus.

I shouldn't have to give my son formula when we're out and about just because some pervert can only think about sex. Nor should I have to pump my milk into a bottle for him before we go anywhere....not that it matters, anyway, because he'll only take a bottle from my mom now. But nor should I be forced to stay home, or, leave him home simply because someone might be offended that I am providing nourishment for my child.

Nor should I have to hide what I am doing. How would you like to eat under a hot blanket? Ever tried to eat your meal while sitting on a toilet seat?

Honestly, I don't feed my son in public very often. I try to schedule our outings for right after he's eaten, so that I know I have at least an hour or two before he's hungry again. But the few times I have had to feed him, I've sat in my car. Once, I did go into a bathroom because there was a boy that was probably about 10 years old nearby, and I didn't want to make HIM uncomfortable. But it's not like there's a blinding flash of boobie going on. Once the babe is latched on, you can hardly see anything if the mother is doing it properly. So I honestly don't see why people are making such a fuss about it.

Breastfeeding is the best form of nourishment for an infant through their first year. It's one of the most natural things in the world. It shouldn't be viewed any differently from you, me, or a bottlefed baby eating in public.

Only for blondes and brunettes (with a 36C minimum).

I voted no simply because when breast start flopping out, people are going to stare which is usually what will happen when someone publicly exposes themselves(unless it is some fat and nasty looking chick with breast that sagged all the way to the ground) and it will not be the people who are staring that will be complaining. It will be the person who decided to breast feed her kid in public who will do all the bitching and complaining and trying to file frivolous lawsuits left and right.

...Should be allowed. Feeding a baby is a practical matter, not a sexual act. Its only 1 breast, very easy to look away if it bugs you. No reason at all that anyone would care.

Yes. Absolutely. Of course breast feeding should be allowed in public. What a ridiculous question. Nursing is perfectly natural and it's the best thing for a child, women should not be made to feel ashamed while doing it.

Of course breatsfeeding in public should be allowed. Who the hell are we to tell a woman she can't go out in public with her baby because she is breastfeeding? What should she do? Hire a babysitter everytime she wishes to go out? Or feed her newborn in a toliet?

Here's a word of advice to all those against breastfeeding in public. If you want a woman to go to the bathroom to give her son/daughter his/her lunch, kindly come along to the bathroom too, and eat your lunch there as well.

Breast feeding is allowed in public, you see it everywhere, no one cares about it here(most European nations).

Personally, I don't like seeing a woman breastfeed in public if they are not going to cover up while in the process. I understand that breastfeeding is natural and all that good stuff. I also understand Stace's point about who wants to eat under a hot blanket, but I think you can set it up in a way where the blanket is not hovering over the baby's face. Now, if a woman was sitting in a lounge chair in a ladies bathroom (or some other discreet place), I don't care if I can see her boob. However, I don't like seeing it when I am sitting in an airport, a coffee shop, or a public place. But that's me.

I am a woman, and I am a proponent of breastfeeding.

Usually women try to be discreet about it.. Its not like they rip of their shirt and sit there naked.

Just this Christmas in the San Antonio airport, a woman flopped out her boob right there and fed her child. She was in a prominent place where people were sitting and walking by. THere were plenty of seats facing the window that she could have gone to feed her child. I am currently pregnant, and I am planning to breastfeed, and I thought her behavior was tasteless.

Yeah, I said normally, but its not like she was undressing her upperbody and letting everyone see her titts.. I am sure she was trying to partially hide the breast that she was feeding with.

Besides, what is the big problem, so what if women ripped out both their breasts and fed only with one, trying to show as much of them as possible..
Its Americans fault that they have become so uncomfortable with nudity and sexuality.

Europeans couldnt care less if a woman was breastfeeding, unless she was dragging both her breasts out to show her titties on purpose.

There was open public breastfeeding Monday night on an episode of NBC's "Two and a half Men". The incident took place in a restaurant scene with no attempt to cover up the act, and the act was done by one of the night's leading actors. Heck, that show is getting ever so closer to revealing the 'Big Nasty' scene in the bedrooms. Methinks open breasfeeding is mild and unobtrusive at the very least.

LOL I know. Americans have a hair complex too (God forbid a woman has hairy underarms).

My being bothered by that woman was because I didn't think she was attempting to be discreet. She did not remotely hide the boob with which she was feeding her child.

Depends on the location, I remember seeing some one doing it while in a restaraunt. . . that could put you off your food.

Yes, absolutely. I breastfed my daughter for 16 months, and when I needed to feed her in public, I would take a seat as far from activity as possible. There is very little to be seen, as Stace points out, once the baby latches on, but I would choose a quieter area for two reasons....one, because it made people passing by less uncomfortable, and two, and more importantly, it made it less likely that my daughter would be distracted by activity nearby. My daughter wouldn't tolerate a blanket over her head, so that wasn't an option. I never went to the bathroom, but I would occassionally sit in the car if there was no other quiet place to go.

This was 13 years ago, and a lot more people were offended by breastfeeding moms in public then. These days, I see women breastfeeding everywhere without anyone batting an eye. I had to put up with some dirty looks from people, but I figured that it was their problem, and it would be far more disruptive to NOT feed my daughter when she was hungry. Nobody likes to hear a hungry baby crying.

Most women who breastfeed do so discreetly. The rare few who choose to make a show of it shouldn't ruin it for the rest of us. If it bothers you, don't look.

It is the best way to feed your baby, and nobody should be ashamed of choosing the best option, nor should babies needs not be met promptly in the interest of not offending grown ups.
