The Supreme Court agreed the Democratic DA of Manhattan can have Trump's tax returns to try to find anything to prosecute Trump for. Then shouldn't everyone's tax returns be available to law enforcement and - ultimately then publicly - or does this only apply to Republicans the plutocrats and kleptocrats hate?

As a comment, this is a HUGE change. With tax returns being private there was only tax evasion reasons to lie on tax returns. With tax returns now being evidence against people in general, it would seem the Constitution would allow anyone to refuse to fill out a tax return claiming the right to not incriminate yourself - though would still have to pay due taxes. So it would seem a person could write: "I an exercising my right to no to answer tax questions under the right to remain silence under the 1st and 5th Amendment, but enclosed is $xxxxxxxxxxxxxx as due taxes." Then refuse to provide any documentation or answer any questions as to how you came up with the number.

We sure would like to see our competitor's tax returns and filings. We could probably take many of their customers and certainly would like to know who their suppliers are, their shipping contract rates etc. This also would tell us which are vulnerable to being run out of business by us.

Trump isn't above the law. Period. Full stop.

To authorized investigative bodies with probable cause.

Trump is not exempt from the law.
IF you and I cheat on our taxes, we will be prosecuted.
Crime bosses have been prosecuted, and on one asked inane questions like " shouldn't everyone's tax returns be available to law enforcement"
Everyone's tax records ARE available to law enforcement when a crime is suspected and the authorities issue a proper subpoena.
Talk about a "red herring" argument, if Trump has nothing to hide he has nothing to worry about.

But don't ya know, this is the Deep State along with the corrupt MSM along with George Soros and dem lousy Democrats just out to "get" Trump.

BORING!!

The current legal process of acquiring tax records of an individual citizen is adequate protection. You should note that the subpoena for his records was in response to DOCUMENTED discrepancies reported AND after the dissolution of his fake charity and life time ban from running one.

So there was adequate suspicion for the DA to investigate. But of course suspicion isn't near enough for the authorities to investigate. They gotta wait for somebody else to hand them a smoking gun. Gee I wonder what Cohen told 'em.

Are there some ahem 'embarrassing' credit card payments you are hiding from us?

What kind of a dumbass poll question is that?

What exactly is that probable cause?
Evidence presented to a judge showing that the investigating authority has reason to believe a crime has been committed.

If Trump or anyone cheated on their tax return the IRS would be the ones to investigate....funny how that works.

The question was not answered...what is the crime? FYI hate is not a probable cause.

Whether something is a crime is proven or disproven in a court of law. Unless you believe in the axiom: There is no crime IF I don't see one.

I was answering a question the OP posed. He didn't define a specific crime.

Bank fraud.
Money laundering.
Tax evasion.

Public reports of questionable financial declarations. Forced termination of Trump Foundation and ban in future, Michael Cohen, Allan Weisselberg, Deutsche Bank, et.al. statements.

PROBABLE FRIGGIN CAUSE that even Insp. Clouseau could understand.
