So it's not open carry that is the threat? You can see his finger at all times and that is the determining factor? If his finger is in front of the trigger guard OK. but on the trigger Blam?
What if there were a dozen guys open carrying ARs . You gonna watch every finger at every second ready to shoot if the finger position changes?
You can "aim" an AR from the hip ...can't you?
How could you tell?
An AR can be at "firing position" at the hip where it is carried.Anyone carrying an AR in an airport should be considered suspect, and if the weapon is raised to firing level, is definitely an immediate threat...

How would you know?
Don't you guys advocate open carry everywhere?
Don't you believe that is every American's right according to the 2nd amendment?
I'm just trying to understand how you have thought this all out.
If everyone is open carrying, How ready would you need to be to kill at an instant's notice?
Calamity said that if only everyone was carrying this would never have been a problem. Do you disagree?
LAX is not a gun free zone ...Only after the baggage screen.
I doubt that anyone can. There's a big difference between "open carry" and a threatening position. I doubt you can understand that difference...
You are doing nothing but baiting with stupid statements.I doubt that anyone can.
How about this gal her finger is off the trigger but she looks ready to shoot. What about this dude he seems to be chambering a round. Would you "drop" him?

What about this kid. he is smiling but is he ready to shoot? These guys look ready to shoot but fingers seem to be off the triggers. Shoot 'em?

Many here advocate open carry of any weapon anywhere. I'm just trying to understand what would the consequences be if this were to actually happen.
The NRA's LaPierre says that the ONLY defense against a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. If they all wore black or white hats like in western movies it would be easy but if everyone was open carrying how could you tell intent, especially with long guns that aren't holstered?
If you are ready to shoot anyone carrying in a suspicious way how would anyone else know your intent? Why wouldn't you be shot for being in a threatening Position?
I'm just asking to find out what you guys are thinking.

Anyone not in a police or military uniform is defiantly a threat. No reason to have an AR just walking around the air port. Even if its just slung you better have a damn good reason for it.Anyone carrying an AR in an airport should be considered suspect, and if the weapon is raised to firing level, is definitely an immediate threat...
Yes, in an instant. This guy looks to me like a threat but is he?
What would you do if you saw him like this at the supermarket?
Would you shoot him?

Come on I want to know.

Gun free zone? Hardly.
There are two armed LA cops at every baggage screening area at LAX.
Oh yeah... and this guy was exercising his 2nd amendment rights and was carrying an AR-15.
Probably a sportsman.
His opinion of there being multiple reactions other than your fallacious two? That's not an opinion.
And sure, just keep pushing your fingers further in your eyes, they'll probably touch eventually.
Anyway, hope all are safe.

Others here seemed sure that if everyone was carrying at LAX that this nut wouldn't have been able to kill anyone.do you consider running someone over with a Porsche an example of "exercising your right to travel"?
shooting someone illegally with a gun has nothing to do with one's second amendment rights anymore than what I described.
how many "sportsman" kill people as opposed to the group that voted for Obama at a rate of 96%?
if you are going to slur a group over gun misuse, targeting sportsmen rather inner city blacks is rather silly given that black males-almost always under the age of 40 and almost always in Democrat party run cities, cause a bit more than half the murders in the USA
"sportsmen" people with hunting licenses or gun club memberships-I bet less then one tenth that amount

I'm asking how would they know( before he shot) that he wasn't just a sportsman exercising his 2nd amendment right to carry a weapon?

Discuss the *BREAKING NEWS* or take it to another thread. But the borderline trolling manner of threadjacking going on here to turn this into an out and out run of the mill discussion about the 2nd amendment ends now. There's an entire section of the forum dedicated for that, take it there. If your post isn't directly, and PRIMARILY, focusing on discussing this Breaking News story and isn't directly relevant to it then action will be taken |
Why?
Don't they have 2nd amendment rights to carry? Anywhere?
Isn't that reason enough?
How about the supermarket? Or a bus station?
Or a rally in Washington. Why is the airport different?
Well yeah... A gun battle inside a passenger plane at 10,000 feet is something we would all like to see. If Barbara had a gun wouldn't the hijackers have guns as well?sportsmen don't tend to violate the laws. he apparently is a sick conspiracy nut and I guess you haven't figured out-California has had an "assault weapon" ban for years-at least 20. Geez, that law (along with the threat of capital murder-both state and FEDERAL (killing a federal agent can get you the needle EVEN IN STATES THAT DON'T HAVE CAPITAL SENTENCES) sure didn't deter that scumbag. Should everyone in an airport be packing heat? that sounds sort of silly but of course if say Barbara Olson (the late wife of the former solicitor general) had a pistol, one of the 9-11 hijacked planes might not have been doomed.
you seem unable to understand that the right to keep and bear arms does not allow you to commit capital murder any more than the right of free association does not allow you to break into a jail to hang out with one of your homies

So you disagree with the poster who said that if everyone was carrying this nut wouldn't have been able to kill anyone? It does sound silly.
BTW the right of free association does allow you to visit the jail house and hang out with your homies in the visiting room.
So...does anyone know why this guy did this?
