Democrat Hillary Clinton has 42 percent to Republican Donald Trump's 40 percent - too close to call - as American voters say neither candidate would be a good president and that the campaign has increased hatred and prejudice in the nation, according to a Quinnipiac University National poll released today.

This compares to results of a June 1 national poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN- uh-pe-ack) University, showing Clinton edging Trump 45 - 41 percent.

When third party candidates are added to today's survey, Clinton gets 39 percent with Trump at 37 percent. Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson gets 8 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein gets 4 percent.

Yes, the Q poll has Clinton up 2%

ABCNews/Washington Post has Clinton up 12%

NBC News/ Wall Street Journal has Clinton up 5%

Rasmussen has Clinton up 5% (WOW! Rasmussen?!?!)

Rueters has Clinton up 10%

The RCP average shows Clinton up 6.2%

The RCP average usually dialed in to the actuals, IMO.

But at this point in the juncture, none of the polls are locked in.

Worth noting is that Clinton hasn't fully finished bringing in the Bernie folks. But it seems there is a solid 15%ish percent out there available for pickup by a Third Party.

IMO opinion this is a major statement of dissatisfaction with the status quo which Hillary represents. Hillary has out spent Trump 40:1 has 10X the staff and the vast majority of the MSM bashing Trump daily and covering up for Hillary's lies and corruption, not to mention Trump is highly abrasive and his campaign platforms are frankly absurd, yet even without the official Republican nomination Trump is running neck and neck against her.

I don't think that the pre nomination polls count all that much. Unless you are a political junkie, most people aren't paying at lot of attention. They are too busy with life to worry about what is happening six months down the road.

The conventions are a lot of fanfare, and the actual introduction of the party platforms to the general public. Many of us tend to forget that.

And so sayeth Bill Maher as well.

National polls aren't too relevant. Its the polls by state factoring in the electoral votes that is much more relevant. I believe Hillary is doing better on the electoral college front. We don't even know if Trump will be the nominee. The GOP convention should be great theater.
