Anyone surprised that Sheriff Israel is still in charge of Broward County? He failed those children at MSD High School completely and shamelessly. This may be one of the best reasons for law abiding citizens to arm themselves, including teachers imo.

Personally? Yes, I am surprised. The man should have tendered his resignation after it came out how his Department utterly mishandled the reports of the young shooter. But hey, if the citizens of Broward County want to stick by someone who can neither protect nor serve, that is their prerogative.

I think the governor and some other high ranked politicians as well as families of students were trying to get rid of him right after the shootings to no avail. Bottom line, we can't put our total faith in law enforcement.

Governor Sott can temporarily suspend Israel, but that state senate has to vote to fire him.

Does the state actually have that power over a county elected official?

Apparently so.
“Under the Florida Constitution, the governor has the power to suspend any Florida official not subject to impeachment. Once suspended, the state Senate may permanently remove an official from office — or reinstate him or her.”

There's the rub then : "As long as Scott provides evidence that shows Israel's conduct rose to the Florida legal definition of malfeasance, misfeasance, neglect of duty or incompetence, the governor would have legal standing to suspend Israel."

Scott has decided that he will wait for the investigation he ordered to be completed before removing Israel and moving forward on a state senate vote to fire him.

The governor-elect (Desantis) has said he would already have removed Israel.

Not surprised, when Israel and the Left made this all about the NRA IMMEDIATELY, to deflect away from police gross negligence, failed liberal policies and SJWing replacing discipling and common sense, to change the narrative.
