"Congressman Louie Gohmert said Monday that children should not be forced to sit through sexual education classes.

'You don't have to force this sexuality stuff into their life at such a point,' Gohmert said on the conservative radio program WallBuilders Live. 'It was never intended to be that way. They'll find out soon enough.'"*

Louie Gohmert figured sex out on his own and kids will too, he claims. Is he right? Are we better off not educating our children? And what does Russia have to do with it? Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

Loui Gohmert... You're a ****ing idiot.. How the hell did you manage to bring the USSR in this? So you dont want abortion, but you dont want to educated children/teens on sex? :doh

They should teach students how to manage money. As for sex, haven't most of them already figured it out?

what floors me about all this, is a hundred years ago im pregnant 15 year old girl was perfectly normal. no all the sudden it's horrible. it seems like childhood is too long.

the first time I ever had sex I was 13 I didn't use any protection I couldn't get it I was too young. lucky for me person I had sex with was not female, nor did he have any STDs.

I was simply responding to an urge that is as natural its breathing.

twisted don't want their kids to know about sex are going to have pregnant teenagers and kids with STDs.

I first had sex ed in 4th grade. I definitely did not have it figured out. the idea it so they don't have to figure it out, so they know what's going to happen. the way some people learn then having sex get someone pregnant is by getting someone pregnant. if this occurs in a 13 year old when is a serious effects on them. so I think its best educate them before they just go figure it out.

100 percent agree that children should be educated on how to use money.

At the age of thirteen, you were only in fourth grade? By that age, most children are in sixth or seventh grade. Did you get held back for two or three years in school?

And being sexually-abused at that age, you saw as “simply responding to an urge that is as natural its [sic] breathing”?

It is probably fortunate that I cannot put my further thoughts into words, as the words that it would take to express just how ****ed your situation seems would surely get me infracted.

The first post was about sex the second about sex ed..

Kids who remain ignorant about sex spread STDs and have children they're not ready for. Making sure they have the right facts from a source that can detach a bit more than parents can is generally a good idea.

We need our kids to get sex ed.

Otherwise they will be sticking things in ears, armpits, and nostrils.

But seriously, sex ed starting in Junior High is more than appropriate.

My sex ed in 8th grade consisted of "In, Out, Repeat" and "Sex feels good because the ejaculation stimulates glands that make you feel good".

Hardly sufficient.

Kids need to learn that masturbation is a great way of dealing with sexual urges without actually having sex and risking STD contraction or unwanted pregnancy.

They need to learn about condoms, birth control pills, IUD, the female condom, and the risks they pose.

They need to learn about how muh more wonderful it is to have sex with someone you really care about and who really cares about you.

I was never taught these valuable lessons in school.

"Louie Gohmert " is one of those people the NYT used to refer to as "people of faith"................Any wonder they've undergone massive staff redos ?...........................

No, I had sex ed in 4th grade, first time i had sex I was 13, it wasn't sexual abuse because the boy I was with was thirteen also. we both wanted to do what we did, which wasn't anal sex, it's actually pretty common that people do that.

It wasn't ****ed up, it was great, to have someone just like me around. To engage in something that all my other friends were doing but i couldn't because I liked boys. It was nice not being alone. Then he moved and broke my heart.

Thank you, i was incredibly insulted by Bobs post.

He didn't even have the full story before he judged that I was molested.

Just curious, but at what age do you recall first realizing that you felt a sexual attraction to males and not females?

I became aware of being straight in I believe 2nd grade. That's when I had my first crushes on girls.

Well I may not be the person to ask about this. I have really always had sexual attraction to both genders. I am bisexual, but I think I can get this question answered. When I was a little boy I really didn't think much of it. But looking back I really was drawn to older boys. I guess it want until I was about 9 or 10 years old that I saw a friend of mine take off his shirt, and it was really at that moment I really liked boys. I hated it, because I knew it was wrong so I suppressed it. It never really came up again until I was on a camping trip with my friend Ryan, and we messed around a bit I was 13. But i was still attracted to girls so it was deeply confusing. I was defiantly gayer than other boys but I was all about checking out girls with them.

It's hard to say when I realized my sexual orientation was bi, but I fully accepted out and embraced it, came out to the world when I was 26. But yes second grade I had no idea. It was fifth or sixth easy for me before I knew. but I guess I had tendencies in my earlier years.
