Sex between men, not skin contact, is fueling monkeypox, new research suggests

In recent weeks, a growing body of scientific evidence — including a trio of studies published in peer-reviewed journals, as well as reports from national, regional and global health authorities — has suggested that experts may have framed monkeypox’s typical transmission route precisely backward.

Be safe everyone. Take precautions to protect yourself and avoid contracting and spreading this disease.

Unnatural sex between men is where a bunch of dangerous diseases begin.

Of course it is. The fact over 90% of those with monkey pox are sexually active gay men is all the proof you need.
Now, this doesn't mean homosexuality is unnatural - on the contrary, it's natural.
It does, however, mean the type of physical contact they engage is directly results in getting this disease.

Don't go thinking that this means that it hasn't and won't spread to the hetero population. It just means that RIGHT NOW, it is circulating predominantly amongst gay men. Just like HIV/AIDS originally did/seemed.

Correlation =/= causation.

“Completely reading the situation as uniquely due to anal or oral sex is highly likely to be overreach,” she said. “The correlation may appear to be strong, but that does not explain the whole picture of disease caused by this virus. So we need to keep an open mind.”

The problem is promiscuity among gay men. It was the same thing back in the 80s and 90s with the AIDS crisis. The disease was spreading rapidly among gay men because they were having so many sex partners. Monogamous gay men do not typically experience either of these diseases at the rate of promiscuous gay men. Promiscuous men and women are also more susceptible than the general public to contracting both diseases, but not at the same rate as gay men.

Claim rejected.
How come, then, disease of this nature don't effect 40% of the straight population since statistically about 40% of them engage in ana! s{x ?

This is likely no different than HIV/AIDS in the means of transmission. We learned from the 80's that AIDS was primarily spread by two means. Anal sex, and sharing needles. There are some heterosexual relationships that involve anal sex as well.

From everything I have seen so far, the transmission means seem to be the same.

It very well might. Give it time. It is new and just being researched.

Promiscuity is a problem for heterosexuals as well when it comes to STDs. The difference here is the size of the virus. Anal sex provides an easier mans to spread it as the intestinal lining allows the virus to enter the blood stream more easily. Vaginal walls are more resistant to allowing the spread of these viruses.

Folks, we've been down this road before. Homoselxuality isn't the cause or the problem here. The sexual mores of men are.

What keeps most straight men from having scores or hundreds of sexual partners is straight women. With gay men, you far more often have two people perfectly willing to engage in casual, non-committal sex. After all, they're both men. The problem is therefore promiscuity, and by this I don't mean a moral problem. It's an immunological one. The cold (ahem) hard reality is that the human immune system simply isn't up to swapping bodily fluids with hundreds of different people over a relatively short period of time.

The pressure from political correctness kept us from learning this lesson during the onset of the AIDS epidemic, and who knows how many more lives were lost while the government's focus was on HIV being "everyone's problem" rather than by focusing on the problem.

A virus doesn't care if you accuse it of being homophobic. They're just interested in a host.

In general, the male has to have it before giving it to the female. This makes it rare unless he is bisexual.

It might, but if the primary transmission is msm as these multiple studies show, then at this time people who engage in high risk behavior need to take extra precautions that the general population does not, in hopes of stopping the spread.

If someone doesn't know of the risks of unprotected sex in 2022 and opts not to use a condom...monkeypox is just one of the MANY potential consequences.

Actually unnatural sex between humans and animals is where some of it came from.

I don't know. You made the claim, you find the proof.

True, but if absolutely everyone did that, we wouldn't be having a national abortion debate.

And there are vaccines for this disease, not just condoms, another way to combat this disease, (along with avoiding sexual contact with msm who have not been tested) which again should be targeted to the high risk population due to the slowed federal response to this outbreak greatly blunting efforts to curb the spread.
