Several states pass an admendment on gay marriage by increadible amounts.
Votes in 2004 election for Ban on gay marriage.

Alabama 75%
Georgia 77%
Kentucky 75%
Michigan 59%
Mississippi 86%
Montana 66%
North Dakota 73%
Ohio 62%
Oklahoma 76%
Oregon 57%
Utah 66%

I think Ohio even illegalizes civil marriage.

Clearly marriage between gay partners is not popular.

It's ridiculous to use the Constitution as a restrictor. I'm glad these are in the states however, because it's no place for the National Government to decide who does or does not get married. Oh wait, the Bush administration tried to get an amendment passed on that....Crap...

According to the press they have each others cell phone numbers so there isnt that much of a difference.

Those states happen to be the laughingstock of the world, where everyone knows them as 'rednecks' and hillbillies. People in those southern and central states you mentioned are uneducated, racist, and are ridiculed by the world as a whole for the mass amount of ignorance and stupidity they display. So I don't care if they ban gay marriage. States like Maryland, Illinois, Massachutes, and others are on their way to legalizing gay marriage. These states are where all the decent, intelligent Americans live.

Welcome to Debate Politics!

I've never heard of people from Oregon being called Rednecks or Hillbillies.

As a proud resident of Texas, I must stand up and be accounted for not being a redneck or hillbilly. Is that really the interpretation of the rest of the world? You see a John Wayne movie and think, yeah that's what Texas is like. Cowboy hats, and horses, trailer parks fer all! Yip.

No sir.

You make an unwise generalization of the southern portion of the US... FILTHY YANKEE!

I know what I said wasn't true. It was just a broad generalization. Of course there are decent people living in every state. But I don't generally like people who try to limit the rights of others based upon their own hatred.
