Separation of Church and State Part 2

why are liberals so afraid of God! In the Pledge,on money, in Christmas carols.Lets not forget nativity scenes .God scares liberals. Liberal ideologues talk about changing the national anthem .Its too jingoistic, problem is all the alturnatives .Have the word God in them .In fact the Battle Hymn of the Republic ,mentions Christ!

Lets be clear. In Law,the seperation of church and state is based on a 1940's decision by the Supreme court. Not any statmenets actualy in the Constitution !
The Constitution in actual words only forbids the creation of a state religion !

Ah Jesus taught no separtion of Church and state . . .that would mean it was a government entirely from the Scriptures . . . .

Sleep well, I'll talk to you in the morning (what is or is not the morning is relative in my opinion) :)

I always get looks when I get to work at 7:30PM and say "Good morning" to people leaving for the day....

lol, yeah, I remember the summer after high school I lived in an apartment in Chicago w/o air conditioning, so I couldn't get to sleep until it cooled down (about 5 in the morning), so I didn't wake up until about 4 or 5 in the afternoon, and would walk into the living room and say good morning, and my roommate worked construction, so he would just glare at me!

The days of no A/C....I would wait for a really hot day to go food shopping...supermarkets are notorious for being cold....I'd stay in the frozen food section for an hour....

I'm done g-rox.....GOOD NIGHT! ;)

Liberals are always behind any attack on christianity in the USA.No Nativity scenes, no Christmas Carols, No under God in the Pledge. You will allow any kind of attack on Christianity.Believing christians are the only group in our country that you can bash with impunity.Anyone else and the liberal dominated media rushs to their defense.
Love of God ? Liberals want to put God on a shelf and bring him out on special occasions. They want him driven out of the public square. Sorta like the Communists did, if you were a believer you had to do it behind locked doors at home.
In Canada Political correctness ( an extreme form of liberalism ) is on the march. You can't quote certain sections of the Bible because it offends Gays. You can't preach on these sections either.

Oh comrade the antichristian conservative and republicans are all for preaching separation of church and state . . . Jesus never preached separation of church and state.
In fact the rag called the consitution is a pagan document. . . . .as it is the laws of men not the laws of God as Jesus commanded . . . so just don't blame the liberals for attacking Christianity when your guilty of the same crime . . .

Sorry to disappoint you, but I am diametrically opposed to ALL religious symbols in public, whatever faith they might be.

I have no problem with Christianity, the religion at all, not one little bit. I respect it, and I admire the ethos involved.

What I do have a problem with are people who think that Christianity is the rule of law, that if you do not adhere to Christian philosophy and principle that one is a Cretan, bound for hell, especially when this point of view is displayed in public.

All religions deserve equal time, in private. Majority opinion or majority rule mean squat when it comes to religious freedom, IMHO. The person who worships Klingons has equal rights to express those views as any other religion. I'm sickened when religious groups try to get things removed from the public domain in the name of their religion, it offends me. Telling others what they can watch or read or listen to is about as repulsive and anti-American as it gets. If someone doesn't want to watch something they can change the channel of turn it off, that is freedom of choice. When they try to turn it off so no one can see it that is an invasion of privacy and against my 1st amendment rights.

So, as I said, sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not against Christianity at all, I'm just against people who want to shove their religion down my throat, especially in the name of God. Is that OK with you?
Would life not be simpler if all religion was consigned to the dustbin of history.

By definition, faith is irrational. As an acquaintance once told me, you can lay all the evidence down in front of you, and it will bring you very close to seeing God’s existence, but in the end you still have to make that leap of faith. For those of us kept in the darkness by adamantly adhering to rationality, some of the conclusions made by those embracing their faith deviate from the course of logically dictated prudence.
Because we live in a conglomeration of diverse peoples with varied and often vying beliefs, peaceful coexistence impels us to make aggregate decisions according to universally respected standards. Arguments based on faith fail to convince those of differing faiths; therefore, they must be weighed according to their reason, their logically identifiable merits, without concern either way for the religious beliefs attached to them.

We need separation of church from state to ensure that stupid ideas without logical merit don’t get enacted as part of government policy. (*cough* Intelligent Design *cough*) These ideas have no merit whatsoever to those of us who do not share the belief structure they are based upon.

JonnyJ, how do you feel about ideas that you think have no merit?

I agree with most of your statements, however, if you keep talking about intelligent design that way, there might be a few convenient accidents, in which triggerhappy, chritians are involved :gunsmilie :shoot
