Re: Senior Administration Official: ‘Very Little Doubt’ Assad Regime Behind Alleged C

This has all the hallmarks of the lead up to the Iraq invasion.

There are just a few things that dont add up with this supposed chemical attack.

Who benefits?: The only ones that benefit are the rebels and their backers in the west. Hence it is beyond illogical for the Assad regime to use these weapons. More about this later.

Place it happened: It was in the last hold out in Damascus for the rebels. Why would any sane.. hell even insane person... use such weapons so close to all the international media and a few kilometres away from a UN weapons team? Makes no sense what so ever for the Assad regime to do it, but it makes a hell of a lot of sense for the rebels to do it. It would create instant knowledge that it happened, since most of the media in Syria are in Damascus. Had this attack been in another smaller city, then it could never have been verified by the media or anyone, and the time for exposure would have been long. Here it was under 24 hours and all over the media.. due to placement.

The way it happened: From what we know from the media, the attacks came in different areas of the rebel held area. If the attack was to take the area, then why did the Assad regime gain no ground? If the attack was to gain sympathy for the rebel cause.. then it would make sense. Also, if it was Assads people who did it, then I would have thought that these well trained military personnel would have been much better at aiming and distributing the chemicals... it seemed very amateur hour.

Previous supposed attacks: There has been several reported attacks across the country and it is disputed who carried them out, but one thing is for sure.. the rebels were heavily suspected in at least one of the attacks if not all. Even the UN and French came out and said that they suspected the rebels.. and yes the Assad regime. That can only lead to the conclusion that the rebels do have capability. And considering that parts of the rebels are radicals of the worst kind.. then you dont have to go far to see that they are more than capable of this kind of crap.

Assad response: Yes the international investigators have now gotten access, and it took some time. But what the media does not report is that the area is under rebel control and there is fighting. What should the Assad government do.. say sure go ahead, but we cant guarantee your safety? No they of course have to negotiate a safe route with the rebels.. who they are not talking with normally.. so .. I will give the Assad regime.. very reluctantly.. the benefit of the doubt. Also the Assad regime have claimed they have found chemical weapons in tunnels they had taken from the rebels.. very odd timing, but it is not the first time they claim this, so take it as you want.

Let me say it up front.. I do not trust either side. I certainly dont trust the Assad regime, and I distrust the ragtag rebels who are so splintered that if they managed to get rid of Assad, then it would just mean that the civil war would continue..

But I have to look at this logically.. and there is only three reasons that Assad would use these weapons.

1) He is a mini Hitler and wants to commit genocide. He has not shown this at all... sure he is a bastard, and is brutal, but there has not been any real systematic ethnic cleansing... aka genocide. It is war, it is nasty, but it is no where near the genocidal ethnic cleansing of Bosnia, Rawanda and WW2 Jewish ghettos and from what I have read about this man.. he aint his father.. who certainly WOULD do this.
2) He wanted his troops to take the area.. that certainly failed.. they barely advanced if at all. So what is the point of doing it and brining down the wrath of the world? This certainly makes no sense.
3) He is desperate and loosing.. Nope, he is actually winning the civil war, so why risk air strikes by the west if he is winning?

So one has to ask yet again.. who benefits the most out of this. The rebels.

Now one could say, why would the rebels gas their own people? Well they could not gas the Assad troops and people and claim that the Assad government forces were just incompetent .. that would look silly. Are they that desperate that they are willing to sacrifice their own people for political and military gain? Considering the biggest and most powerful groups are radical islamists .. they hell yea.. they have been using suicide bombings so this would not be much of a step up.

They are also losing and the supposed gas attack on the area stopped the attacks by Assads forces in the area as I understand it. Assad was close to overrunning the area just before the attack..

So with this attack, not only can the rebels possibly look forward to massive air strikes on Assad and his forces by the US, France and UK, but I would also wager that the amount of weapons heading their way would increase. So the motive is there.. that is for sure.

But the propaganda war, with the help of especially the British Foreign Minister, is well under way and Assad is losing that war thanks to the western media.. and like the lead up to the Iraq war.. most of the media are not asking the hard questions.. and that is pissing me off.. I want the truth!

Re: Senior Administration Official: ‘Very Little Doubt’ Assad Regime Behind Alleged C

First off, the post above is nonsense, since it is well known that it is not bashar but maher who controls the military, and it is likely that maher, who is a psychotic lunatic, would have no compunction about using WMD on civilians. After the SAA-led massacres at Baniya, Deraa, Houla, and Latakia, it is hardly a leap of faith that the assad murder machine would slaughter ever sunni in syria - or on earth - to retain his power, wealth and privilege.

This strike was ordered by maher and iran, who is close to completing and testing their nuclear weapon, to see how far they can push the West before intervention.

How can anyone rationally claim that "this is some kind of similar buildup to iraq" when the civil war has been going on for 3 years?

Why not try to win faster and more decisively? Obama made his, "red line", speech a year ago and so far, all he's done is redeploy a couple of missile boats. Assad probably believes that Obama isn't going to do anything--a safe bet, considering it's Obama we're talking about.

oops!

The plan has been revealed six months ago already.

US 'backed plan to launch chemical weapon attack on Syria, blame it on Assad govt': Report

By ANI | ANI – Wed 30 Jan, 2013.

London, Jan 30 (ANI): The Obama administration gave green signal to a chemical weapons attack plan in Syria that could be blamed on President Bashar al Assad's regime and in turn, spur international military action in the devastated country, leaked documents have shown.

A new report, that contains an email exchange between two senior officials at British-based contractor Britam Defence, showed a scheme 'approved by Washington'.

As per the scheme 'Qatar would fund rebel forces in Syria to use chemical weapons,' the Daily Mail reports.

Barack Obama made it clear to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad last month that the U.S. would not tolerate Syria using chemical weapons against its own people.

According to Infowars.com, the December 25 email was sent from Britam's Business Development Director David Goulding to company founder Philip Doughty.

The emails were released by a Malaysian hacker who also obtained senior executives resumes and copies of passports via an unprotected company server, according to Cyber War News.

Do you think he should do something?

I'm just curious, personally I think its time to start the bombing.

Send in the French to clean it up.

Of course you think it's time to start the bombing, becaise The One said so. IMO, i think we should figure out who the good guys are, first.

So at the same time that you think Obama is spineless for not acting against Assad you think it would be wrong to act against Assad because we don't know who the good guys are?

And no I don't think we should start bombing because "the One" has said so, firstly Obama hasn't said that you just pulled that **** right out of your ass and secondly that's just a total strawman you made for me.

Nope, you're right, Obama hasn't said so...In fact the only thing he seems to be pondering is a strongly worded letter in true UN globalist fashion...Like the weak punk he is...Much like Iran's uprising, Obama had his chance to do the right thing, and blew it because he was scared, something he didn't lack when backing his Muslim Brotherhood friends in Egypt during the Arab spring....His foreign policy is all over the board in that region, and it seems that he must ask Putin's permission on anything foreign policy....

It's like we have Richard Simmons in the Oval Office.

We should probably stay out of it before someone starts running with scissors.

Between everything PeteEU said and the fact this plot was supposedly discovered by a Malaysian hacker six months ago, this thing does seem kind-of rotten. I hope we were not actually involved in a staged chemical attack that killed innocent civilians. And I would hope our government isn't stupid enough to follow through on a plan that had already been compromised and made public. But I've been surprised by these turds in suits before.

According to the paper, the U.S. State Department has declined to comment on the matter. (ANI)

The State Department tends to deny false rumors or allegations. Declining to comment is usually what they do when it's a damning or embarrassing truth.

No, I said, "Assad probably believes Obama isn't going to do anything". That's an exact quote, too; not the fabricated comments you dteamed up.

And you also said you think its a safe bet, meaning you agree with the prediction, meaning you must think he's spineless or otherwise you wouldn't think it such a safe bet.

But lets clear it up, do you think Obama is spineless when it comes to his threats? Yes/No.

Leave it to one of the pilgtims to interpret my comments in the most negative way. Stop with the hero worship

Answer the question, of course you can't answer the question because either you'll have to admit that I was right when I said you think Obama is spineless or you'll have to say he isn't spineless.

Which is it?

False choice...Obama is assertive if it has some political gain for him.

You didn't even ask me a question. Can you be any more childish?

Anyway, back on topic. No I don't support intervention into Syria because Obama says so, because 1) he hasn't said that and 2) that's not my reason.

So, indiscriminate bombing is the answer? It's either that, or look like a weak non player on the stage after opening his big mouth, and then doing nothing when the line is crossed....How many should be killed before we condemn whats going on, and take action to stop it?

Indiscriminate bombing is ok, since Obama is doing it

Is Obama spineless?

Yes, he is. He is spineless to the military industry complex. They are thirsty for the money when there is a sequesteration.
