While the appointment of this far left wing ideologue is unfortunately a fait accompli there are two things that I find interesting regarding the upcoming process:
1. Just a geeky political technical matter... Why are they going through with the nomination process BEFORE the seat is actually available? Has this ever happened?
2. In the unlikely, but plausible event of a tie vote, it would seem to be a conflict of interest to have the VP breaking the tie. Scholars have come down on both sides of this debate, as the constitution does not specifically forbid this practice.
I don't see the Republican caucus sticking together on this one, but we can hope for that plus Manchin perhaps.

Washington — The Senate Judiciary Committee said Wednesday that confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson will begin March 21, keeping the Senate on track for a possible final vote next month.
