Senate approves stopgap spending bill

Limbaugh is close to a stroke.
Along with Coulter and Ingrahm.

And rightfully so; the wall is the cornerstone of Trump's Presidential platform.

It looks just now that Trump may be wavering on signing the CR. He's really in a tough spot here, politically. A very tough spot. And in those times, I expect him to follow his instincts, which is to cling to his base. That's why I was blown-away when he rolled so easily. I expected him to put-out a prolonged effort, to be honest.

The GOP didn't have the votes to give Trump his wall money, and they somehow convinced Trump it would be dumb to "own" a shutdown over something he wan't going to get?
Yeah, but at the cost of angering his base. I think he mis-judged their reaction.

Yes, I'm surprised as well. Normally Trump wouldn't think twice about screwing over 10's of thousand of people for the sake of appealing to his base.

Edit : Nothing is signed yet, correct? Stay tuned - the rightie media nutjobs are twisting the knife.

Seems the single issue Trumpers are in knots.

Trump is framing this as border security and the majority of Americans are in favor of border security. The Democrats don't want to be seen as shutting down the government because they don't want border security.

The Democrats are not shutting down anything. The Trump Grinch is because he is a clueless idiot without a heart.

The majority of the people want border security. Notice Trump is framing this as border security.

He had the money for border security everyone knows this is about the ridiculous "wall" that Mexico was going to pay for. He is breaking his promise either way.

But Obama didn't have the political guts to trigger a shutdown to get what he wanted.

Translation, he wasn't stupid enough to hold the country hostage for a temper tantrum like the GOP likes to do.

The history of people "getting what they wanted" (which, btw reeks of childish temper tantrum) is not good. Most shutdowns end with the party initiating it simply looking foolish and government workers getting a nice paid vacation (paid for doing no work).

Since Trump is going into that looking foolish, I guess he has nothing to lose.

So you admit that half of the illegal immigrant population comes across the southern border. Good that's a start. The question has been what can you do about it, or should anything be done at all.
Just cause visa overstays count for almost half of the illegal population does not detour from the conversation so please bring up a relevant point.

Yes, we have some illegal border crossing, but only 20% of what we once had, with good prospects that he will go even lower just doing what we are doing. Moreover, the number of illegal aliens living in the US is down 20%. This is the time to keep up the good work we have been doing. There is no rational argument for spending $5-25B on an ineffective wall that doe little to address a problem that appears to be under control.

I thought conservatives hated wasteful government spending? perhaps they just hate a certain type of people even more?

Most Americans are smart enough to figure out Trump's framing is bull****. Are you?
