Senate advances repeal of methane fees, sending first Biden rollback to Trump’s desk

The Senate cleared legislation Thursday that would repeal a Biden administration regulation charging oil and gas producers a fee on methane emission leaks for President Trump’s signature.

The joint resolution to repeal the Environmental Protection Agency’s methane emission fee rule is the first to pass both chambers, but more CRA action is coming.


The House next week will take up a measure the Senate passed on Tuesday to roll back a requirement that new oil and gas leaseholders on the outer continental shelf submit an archeological report before they can begin production. The lower chamber will also vote on two other CRA measures to repeal rules on appliance energy conservation standards and rubber tire manufacturing emissions.


This week’s 52-47 Senate vote to rescind the methane fee rule fell along party lines, but the 220-206 House vote drew support from six Democrats and opposition from one Republican.

Not that I agree but that's the right way to do it. Not arbitrary decisions by an unelected individual

We in the MAGAsphere love methane, and if Elon can make it into butter, even the lib-progs would be clamoring to join us, but Musk will insist the lib-progs invest in red hats, FJB flags and Teslas before considering acceptance.

Just the beginning of many steps to speed up and increase production due to removing barriers. The moves will also ease costs because of less regulations and fees.

Doubtful. The extra cash will go to the CEOs and stockholders.

Releasing even more methane and CO2 into our air is not responsible. They'll change the laws and regs to suit their shareholders' profits but it is bad citizenry. That air is for the commons and we are left to breathe it.
