good job, a-holes. if i was the father, the next thing to go on my lawn would have been a "trespassers will be shot" sign. which i would then immediately begin to enforce. lowlifes threatening my son?

According to Corporal Dan Friz, an MCPD spokesperson in Rockville, Maryland, the department received a disturbance call from one of Baer’s neighbors at 4:10 pm last Sunday. Four MCPD units arrived at Baer’s Greenville Rd. address at 4:15 pm. At least two Metropolitan Police Department units from the nearby District of Columbia were already at the scene when they arrived.

Why? Because police cars attached to the Washington MPD’s Civil Disturbance Unit had escorted the SEIU protesters’ buses to Baer’s home.

...The Maryland officers reported there were approximately 500 protesters on and near the front lawn of Baer’s house. Montgomery County was not given a “heads-up” concerning the planned protest. Although a protest permit is technically required in Montgomery County, in practice no citation is issued if the protestors disperse when requested to do so by the owner of the private property they occupy.

The primary role of the Washington cops in this event was to protect the protesters. The D.C. officers had no authority to act to disperse the protesters even had the homeowner been present and asked them to vacate the private property.

...According to Friz, “members of protest groups know how far to push the envelope” and wait for “the key words” – for example, the property owner’s request that they leave – in order to avoid arrests or citations. For example, protesters are required to keep on the move, since a standing protest violates a Montgomery County code. And, while photographs clearly suggest that many of the SEIU protesters were stationary, the District police don’t have any authority to enforce Montgomery County laws.

So, let’s sum this up: A caravan of SEIU buses receive a Metropolitan (D.C.) Police Department escort to a private home in Maryland where the protesters, from all appearances, violate Montgomery County law by engaging in a stationary protest.

...What’s up with that? Had the mob decided to torch the house, the D.C. police would not have been authorized to intervene. Not their jurisdiction. They’re just escorts. Meanwhile...

Nina Easton relays her first-hand account of the uncivil disobedience and “mob”tactics exhibited by SEIU and the National People’s Action (NPA), as they terrorized a teenage child in his own home.

Baer’s teenage son Jack — alone in the house — locked himself in the bathroom. “When are they going to leave?” Jack pleaded when I called to check on him.

This is all a part of an ongoing campaign which SEIU and NPA have titled “Showdown In America.”...

Too many acronyms without definitions.

What is SEIU? Straight-Edge Indoctrination Union?

What were they doing at this house? I mean, why were they there? I shouldn't have to click on the link for info that basic, IMO.

Edited: I clicked on the link and I still don't know what SEIU is. Some group protesting banks.

they are the Service Employees International Union. Basically a unit that realized that unions tend to destroy whatever private business they leech onto, and so they moved into unionizing government officials (since government can just always turn the screws tighter on the taxpayer to survive).

their former President, Andy Stern, visited the White House 22 times in 2009 during the first six months of Obama’s presidency, making him the most frequent outside visitor... The SEIU spent $85 million to help elect Democrats to the White House and Congress in 2008.

I believe the rule around here is that you're thread should have the same title as whatever article you're posting has.

But, to the substance...

The two links you posted are by partisan hacks, posted in Andrew Breitbart websites. They simply aren't trustworthy. I give them about the same credit as I do the Huffpost which surprisingly has a rather flattering account of the protest (who'd a thunk it)?

Nina Easton, Fortune Columnist, Compares Bank Protesters To 'God Hates Fags' Group

Basically since it's morons relaying the story on both sides, and there were no arrests and no property damage to speak of, and because the right wingers here are trying to turn this into a situation where the "mob" was purposefully trying to intimidate the guys son (a laughable accusation, which is why I question your motives since you put that as your thread title) I tend to stay on the side of the huffpost writer.

I don't like the idea of people protesting outside someone's house at all, I wouldn't join in on one either without a much better cause, but this appears to be right up there with the acorn pimp. A story that's twisted by breitbart cronies to reach deep down in right winger bellies accross the nation and pull up whatever outrage is left after all the other made up crap.

Approximately 170 banks have been deemed "small enough to fail" in the preceeding year and a half, oddly, however, Chicago's troubled "Shorebank" is poised to be bailed out by our money via the Obama administration...

Why are no SEIU and ACORN thugs boarding busses to terrorize their owners and mangement?

Complete denial, predictable "shoot the messenger" lefty rhetoric, justification, deflection and moral equivilency all rolled into one post.

Wow....just wow. Excuse after excuse, and justification after justification for lefty tactics and this horrendous administration....

Sip sip, swallow your Koolaid....eventually, you'll choke on it... unfortunately so will the rest of us. Thanks.

No where in there did I deny anything happened. Also, I'd like to point out that your post is full of the same **** you just accused me of, lol.

I'm just saying that I don't trust Andrew Breitbart and his cronies. After watching what he turned that Acorn Pimp BS into and doctoring video to make it look like he was dressed like a pimp etc I don't trust him. If you're gullible enough to think that their words are divine then go for it.

I think I took a very fair stance. I pointed out that both sides aren't trustworthy and have their problems. I also think that if there wee any violence or damage or anything then I'd be more inclined to not believe the HuffPost writer.

I'm also not shooting the messenger. I'm just saying that when someone twists something like this into "they rioted outside a house with one scared little teenage boy inside!!!!" when it's plainly obvious that they didn't do it for that reason then I start to wonder about honesty.

If they show up with any proof that these people were as vitriolic as they say they were, be it video (everyone has cellphone camera's now a days) or something then I'll say they were right.

Hell, when black congressional members made claims that people shouted racist rhetoric at them the right was pissed that there wasn't any video of it. I'm somewhat surprised (not really, lol) that they don't hold their own side to the same standard.

If you're next post doesn't contain some substance other than calling names then don't expect a reply. :2wave:

I don't really understand the conservative hatred for unions. It's a continuation of the free market and personal liberty, workers pooling together to try and improve their situation.

Unions bastardize the free market by demanding wages and benefits it will not bear....resulting in reduced profits that inhibit company growth and ability to compete globally.

Which costs jobs and raises consumer prices.

Well, add the OP article's description of the SEIU tactics as one of the reasons for the hatred.

oh were that that was true. sadly, however, unions today utilize the coercive power of the state to benefit themselves; else they would have died out long ago, along with mercantilism.

The SEIU better look out, because the Leftists don't tolerate this sorta thing. Oh, wait, the SEIU is made up of Leftists. Damn the luck!

That would be true if an employer had the right to fire anyone who joined a union.that is free market

How about the CNN version?

Or the CBS version?

Both of those show a group of SEIU protesters generally acting like assholes.

From what they just did, would it be Sewer Employees' International Union?

If those thugs ever came on my property to terrorize my family, the only property damage would have been their asses loaded with rock salt. That's pretty bad when the police are there to condone the whole thing, but the DC police doesn't surprise me. DC had a dope addict for a Mayor for some time.

No they really don't.

The CNN version is by Nina Easton, the same person as in one for the andrew breitbart websites in the OP. She's the one that claimed that these protesters are the same as the "God hates fags" cult that goes around and protests military funerals. I don't trust her and I question anyones honesty if they are truly trying to claim that her word alone is enough to make you believe that crap. That doesn't just go for Nina Easton. If Kieth Olberman was reporting something on the tea parties and he didn't have someone else, a more reliable person, or some kind of evidence, I'd have a hard time believing that too. I'm betting the righties in here would agree with me then.

And I'll point out again, I don't 100% trust the huffpo writer, but i do somewhat trust the CBS version you posted a bit more, and since there were no pictures of property damage, no video of them doing anything other than yelling slogans (rather nice slogans at that) I tend to believe them that they weren't out of control. And the idea that they were doing this to intimidate a teenager (just look at how the OP mislabeled this thread just to misrepresent this article and what really happened) is silly.

The other article you posted makes absolutely no claims to property damage, at the very worst is says they chanted "Bank of America is bad for America". Ohhh, arrest these people! lol. The second article is written as if no harm was done, it was very peaceful. That's the account I tend to believe since noone can show any actual damage done to this house or video of anyone saying anything outrageous (and the second clip has video, so we know there was video there).

To terrorize your family?

They chanted "Bank of America is bad for America." What makes them thugs?

I guess you'd hold the same accepting position if I gathered together 700 of my closest Conservative friends on your front yard to chant "leftist's are bad for America"?

Yea, sure you would. ;)

Would I call you a bunch of thugs that were trying to intimidate my children? Nope. A bit to honest for that kind of crap.

Then again if they were conservatives I'm guessing they'd all be locked and loaded with 3 guns a piece, therefor making them genuine american heroes, right?

If I may interject. I find it hideous what leftists are willing to accept in the name of prtotecting their own. I am not sure if you have a family, but if you do and see no problem with hundreds of people surrounding your house, while you are not there and chanting while a child is in the house you simply cannot be a compassionate person.

When I hear trash like this, put together with the tactics of this regime to damp out people who do not agree with them. I wonder what left winf nuts cross over to fascists, or are they one and the same.

You are obviously not alone...November will bear this out. Formerly apathetic people see the tactics, people see the race baiting, people see the intellectual dishonesty, people see the hypocricy and the agenda...why do you think Tea Party folks are so hated, ridiculed and labled "racist" by the left?....they stand directly in the way of their agenda.

It will be interesting to see how November plays out. If the right splinters, throwing over people who are not " pure enough", the left wins and we do it all over again.
