SCOTUS rules against democracy in Gerrymandering case!!!

No, Robert and the rest of the cons on the court have made SCOTUS a kangaroo GOP court. We no longer have a SCOTUS that anyone except Trumpsters believe in. It is a shame, but many Americans no longer believe in this court. It is apparent to anyone with a brain that all three branches of our government are seen as corrupt. Is it any wonder that there are a growing number of survivalists who see the end of our country coming. We have trump talking about having a third and fourth term and his followers are cheering him on. Not a good sign.

LOL. So the House impeachment inquiry is not a kangaroo court but the Supreme Court is.

Nobody from either side believes that it should be a dictatorship and that's what it's becoming under a Trump administration.

How so? The resistance is stopping many things Trump wanted to accomplish.

The Founders never mentioned democracy a single time in The Constitution.

I think someone mentioned the tyranny of the majority;)

Oh come on, are you seriously saying Gerrymandering doesn't affect elections or give power or advantage to the side that draws up the lines? I can at least show where that indeed does and that the left does it as well. It doesn't change the fact that Gerrymandering is wrong or doesn't give the side drawing up the lines an advantage. Just because it gives the Dems advantage in states doesn't make it any less wrong than in states where Republicans have the advantage due to Gerrymandering. Gerrymandering at worse is a tool used by each side to silence any other party but the Dem or Reps and at best it is a tool used to give one side an advantage over the other. If it's one thing that people should be united on is that Gerrymandering is wrong when it is done by one side.

Gerrymandering doesn't have much more effect than illegal voting does. It's impossible to gerrymander unless you won and if you won the first time it is rather difficult to claim that that same side wouldn't have won the next time.

I disagree.

Your response just sounds hyperbolic partisan blather. The Supreme Court has a critical responsibility and they handle it relatively well. Some topics are controversial/emotional and difficult to rule on.

The "fiery attacks" we commonly hear in social media venues typically come from posters who never bother to actually read the content/reasoning of the court's decisions. (Both Majority and Dissenting.

The SCOTUS is nothing but a GOP controlled court. Every decision they have made has gone along directly with the GOP desires and that will continue. They will do everything they can to keep Trump safe. They will allow him to keep his people from testifying and keep his records safe and that will end any chance of keeping our democracy from dictatorship.

The Founders never mentioned democracy a single time in The Constitution.

There is a reason...Mob rule is pretty consistently scary....and lethal.

Look at the loons bouncing around these days. They broke cnn.

CNN has made an active decision to publicly push false narratives in a group think exercise. Not sure workers there have a choice if they want to feed their families.

CNN staffers are caught on new whistleblower video saying the network's 'obsessive' Trump coverage will only stop 'when he dies'

"'We're so busy trying to get appointment viewership. Even though we're totally left-leaning, we don't want to admit it.
'We could be so much better than what we are.
'You learn it in journalism school, we're supposed to be middle of the road that's our job. Now, it's all just infotainment is all it's become.
'There is no true media news outlet,' he said.
Davis added that he was 'not happy' with what the company does.
'I've been here for a little while. I hate seeing what we were and what we could be and what we've become. It's just awful.
'Even though we're totally left-leaning, we don't want to admit it,' he said.
He added that he had not listened to Zucker's daily 9am rundown call 'for 15 years' because it was 'bulls**t.' "

Too many millions are escaping the democrat plantation and enjoying the dignity of work these days. They have to get the president out of there.

Establishment corruption is being exposed. They have no choice but to fight ferociously. "Any means necessary"....as our friends here illustrate so often and so eloquently.

The problem is we are becoming the alternative.

We are not becoming the alternative in any way, shape, or form. What we do have though is that when someone wins an election 50.1% to 49.9% then that party tries cramming their policies down the throats of the 100% and both sides do that.

What do you call Citizens decision but legislating from the bench. Show me where in the Constitution it say money is Free Speech and Corporations are people. The Cons on the court legislated that by their decision. But determining that gerrymandering undercuts the whole meaning of our political decision making is legislating?

Citizens United was a complex case. And the final court ruling is commonly distorted/misrepresented.

There were good arguments made in both the Majority and Dissenting opinions.

It is not in their power to stop gerrymandering, just as wealth redistribution is not in their power. The Court merely said, "You have come to the wrong place for this".

It's in their power, and they should have done something. Gerrymandering is a shameful assault on our voting process, and those who defend it are despicable.

SCOTUS ruled that states can Gerrymander to their heart's content, stating that it is a political thing, not a legal thing. So how does this effect our so called democracy, it certainly ends the idea of one man one vote that seems essential to our democracy. Whether its Dems or GOP in control of the state's legislators, they can continue to set districts that even if they lose the total number of votes they can control who is in the state legislator, and thus who goes to Washington. And they can change things each 10 years to insure they keep such control. In some state the controlling party has received 45% of the total votes for seats in the state legislator, but through gerrymandering, got over 55% of the seats. That means in those states that your vote is meaningless in many gerrymandered districts. And there are simple ways of ending such political gerrymandering, but our parties do not wish to give up their positions of power just to bring back a better democracy. I think that perhaps it is time to make state political candidates go on the record vowing to end the practice as SCOTUS will not protect our right to have our votes count

In other news, the Republican Supreme court has declared that states can deny black people the right to vote, because the motivation is political, not racism. We have a court of Republican whores, and they do what Republican whores do, rewrite the constitution to benefit Republicans politically.

LOL. So the House impeachment inquiry is not a kangaroo court but the Supreme Court is.

Thre Congress is fulfilling their responsibilty to oversee the Executive Branch and Trump is giving them plenty of ammunition. If the House actually impeaches Trump, the Senate will then do their job and hold a trial. that is all within their roles in our constitution. What this kangaroo SCOTUS will do is help Trump in his obstruction by keeping the people and records the House wants from getting them, you watch. What the House is doing is no different from what the GOP controlled House did in the Clinton Impeachment, what they thought was right, no pun intended.

Can you repost that in English please? You really have to think outside the box in trying to have politics without a political machine. Even Bernie and AOC can't get anywhere without a political machine. If you or anyone else have an idea then I am all ears.

It's in their power, and they should have done something. Gerrymandering is a shameful assault on our voting process, and those who defend it are despicable.

Some don't agree with any notion that 'justice' is relevant to the courts; or that they have any obligation to enforce things like 'equal protection'. As long as THEY get to have the losing candidates they like win elections.

Do you know how wrong you are. In my state we had an election where the GOP got 45% of the votes for our Assembly, but got 55% of the seats. I guess you would will call that an excuse for losing, but I call it gerrymandering, big time. On now this GOP SCOTUS has made it legal.

Excuses again. Do you not understand that it is impossible to gerrymander unless you won in the first place?

By political machine I mean the type that suppresses representation.

Ummmmmmmmm. There are a lot of restrictions, rules, etc for changing the government, in fitting with social changes. That's why there have been several amendments to the constitution. The Supreme Court does not have the authority to amend the constitution due to their feelings.

The supreme court voted itself the authority to rewrite laws as it sees fit. It is not a legitimate institution.

Through constitutional amendment. Not because some stupid Marxists keep crying “but it’s <insert current year here>”

You don't even know what a ****ing marxist is, in your theocratic fascistic perspective, so please, spare us the indignity of reading your social conservative agitprop.

I think someone mentioned the tyranny of the majority;)

The right-wing fascists love to throw around the phrase 'tyranny of the majority' as an attack to support their violating democracy. They're wrong. 'Tyranny of the majority' is an issue; it's why we have the Bill of Rights for individuals; but it is not justification for opposing democracy. Just admit what you are, an enemy of democracy.

That's just not true. What about Obamacare, just to mention one example? What about gay marriage rights?

Citizens United was a complex case. And the final court ruling is commonly distorted/misrepresented.

There were good arguments made in both the Majority and Dissenting opinions.

First, it was a terrible decision that had absolutely no basis in our Constitution, in fact, similar in my mind to Roe. It was a decision that the cons on the court said would no have a major role in our elections. How do you think that has worked out since 86% of the candidates who have spent the most money win the election. the court by its decision allowed those with money to buy elections.

But this is the way with the left. They think courts should decide cases based on feelings. The Supreme Court merely said they don't have jurisdiction over a state process.

The Left has abandoned legislating in favor of running to their activist courts to issue fiats from the bench.
No one elected the judiciary. We do elect our representation in Congress.

The supreme court voted itself the authority to rewrite laws as it sees fit. It is not a legitimate institution.

The problem isn't that it 'rewrites laws as it sees fit', insofar as that is rewriting them for legitimate reasons, namely to meet constitutional requirements; that's the job. The problem is when they rewrite them dishonestly because of radical, corrupt ideology, which they are groomed and selected to do by the Federalist Society to supply to Republicans who are the enemies of the constitution.

That's just it. I'm not against any media as long as they issue a disclaimer about who they are. If they slant one way then own up to providing biased news coverage.

That's just not true. What about Obamacare, just to mention one example? What about gay marriage rights?

The recent SCOTUS has not yet voted on the latest ACA, Obamacare, case that will soon come before them. The best guess bu most experts is that the court will find the ACA unconstitutional.

It's in their power, and they should have done something. Gerrymandering is a shameful assault on our voting process, and those who defend it are despicable.

The Supreme Court is not the top dictator of the country. Even they have to follow the laws and the constitution and judge their cases in that manner.
