Scooter Libby finally releases Judy Miller from jail

Scooter Libby finally released Judy Miller from their confidentiality agreement, allowing Miller to testify and in turn get out of jail. I am guessing Scott McClellend is in for another rough breifing. Anyone shocked that it was Libby? I hope not.

This has been a bad month for the GOP. It took a nomination to the Supreme Court to get Rove off the papers last time; what are they gonna do this time? The GOP likes to stick with what works, so maybe could there be another nomination in the works?

Anyways, regardless of the timing, Rove, Brown, DeLay, Frist, Libby, all in hot water. Can't say it wasn't coming. You can only screw the system for so long before the ol' boomerang effect will eventually set in.

Now my only wish is that the Democrats take a page out of the Rove book and make something of this. I hope history will not repeat itself and the Dems can get their act together.

I can't believe he let that woman sit in jail all that time, it really is despicable.

"My source has now voluntarily and personally released me from my promise of confidentiality regarding our conversations," Miller said in a statement.

Her source was Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, reported the Times, which supported her contention that her source should be protected.

Until this past summer, President Bush said leakers in the Plame probe would be fired. But in July after it was revealed that top aide Karl Rove and Libby had been involved in the leaks, Bush said "if someone committed a crime," he would be fired.

"Mr. Tate [Libby's attorney] said in an interview on Thursday, "Her lawyers were provided with a waiver that we said was voluntary more than a year ago." Mr. Abrams [Miller's attorney]would not discuss the question in a brief telephone conversation on Thursday."

Libby's attorneys also reiterated two weeks ago that there was no confidenetialty and that she had been released from any a year ago.

Miller choose to go to jail and choose to stay there. So why do you frame it as if Libby was forcing her to stay in jail, that is patently false.

Hmmmm. Right now I am reading All the President's Men. There seems to be a lot of similarities between the arrogance of the republicans back then and the arrogance of them now. It would be great if there was a similar outcome as well.
