I think that every little child should have the possibility to get an education. Why do some people in poor countries, send boys to school but not girls? One way of solving this problem would be to record tapes with all the school materials and send it home to each of the poor families. Then the family would save a lot of money, not worring about who they should send to school. Everyone would have the possibility to get some sort of education. Atleast the children would now the basic stuff. One other important point, is to let the teens in poor countries have sexual teachings. Giving them information about different sexually transmitted diseases, in that way they would be aware and careful, thinking twice before they have sex. That would result in that the birthrate in overpopulated countries would go down.

Well in countries plagued by poverty schooling can be expensive. If you can afford to send one of your kids to school and you live in a country where almost no women have a powerful positions in company boards, political parties etc. why would the family chose the boy? Because there is a higher possibility that the boy can get a good job later on and help the family out of the dirt.

This of course varies in differnet countrys my example dosen't work everywhere..

Anyway, sending out material instead of building schools I think would be much more expensive and since aid-organizations don't even have the power to send out emergenzy help to the starving, the sick, and the homeless its a little far of to send out material I think

There are however ideas about how to give these kids material for scool. I heard about some company that had made a small low budget computer that got its electicity from a crank on the side and it had. It's a nice idea but I'm afraid I think that too is a bit far off.

But hey forget about the pessimist over here and begin spitting out ideas to make this place a better world!

I think that every little child should have the possibility to get an education.

Why?

Why do some people in poor countries, send boys to school but not girls?

Because, in those countries, boys are considered worth teaching. Boys are considered to have an intrinsic worth while girls are not.

One way of solving this problem would be to record tapes with all the school materials and send it home to each of the poor families. Then the family would save a lot of money, not worring about who they should send to school.

First, when making a decision about who to send to school, money isn't usually the determining factor.

Two. Even if it were, we are talking about people who are honestly poor (not like what we consider poor in this country), people who wonder where their next meal is coming from. They don't have the money for frivolities like tape players.

Everyone would have the possibility to get some sort of education. Atleast the children would now the basic stuff.

What do you consider basic? Algebra? Biology? History?

When everone in a family is working to try to keep enough food for the family to survive, basic education is how to get that food and survive, not anything that is taught in a school.

One other important point, is to let the teens in poor countries have sexual teachings.

There isn't even agreement on "sexual teachings" in this country.

Giving them information about different sexually transmitted diseases, in that way they would be aware and careful, thinking twice before they have sex. That would result in that the birthrate in overpopulated countries would go down.

Why would you think that? There are countries that don't have enough food to feed the people that they already have. That doesn't stop big families from happening. It's a kind of catch-22 situation. A very poor family needs to have many children to help feed the family which puts a further strain on available resources which means that families need to have even more children to help feed the family which puts an even greater strain on the resources...etc...

If you really want to help them, figure out a way to move them someplace where the struggle to survive isn't an all consuming factor.

Yeah, it's nice to say that we should figure out how to give an education to all the poor children of the world. Before you can do that, though, you have to take care of a lot of the rest of the problems associated with struggling just to survive.
