'Sarah Palin's Alaska' Breaks TLC Ratings Record

The fact that the show made record ratings and is obviously very popular for TCL programming.

Your just bashing Palin and TLC because someone you don't like made record ratings on that TV station.

why would anyone bash a woman who was just "bein' free"? lol....a reality show....so, i don't know, silly. i rank ms palin and family right up there with ozzie.

That is an insult to the Prince of Darkness. I demand you take it back:2razz:

You guys don't get it.....those of us on the left LOVE Sarah Palin. She is the best thing to happen to the GOP since I don't know when. It seems these days that it is the Republican power structure that is trying to silence Palin. I say....give Palin a platform and let her run.

She wont run. Not with those four year terms...

It doesn't surprise me that the show did well. Regardless of whether you like her or not, anyone would have to admit that she's certainly popular.

She gives better speeches (knowing that's important to you Libs), and doesn't need idiot boards to deliver them.

So tell me, did TLC have a crew of homosexuals build Todd a mancave? I didn't watch.

Purrrrrrrrs

Palin gets 5 million viewers in one night. Ok, lets compare that with rating behemouth MSNBC...

Lisa de Moraes - MSNBC has a big ratings night with Keith Olbermann's return
Olbermann's first show back attracted 1.5 million viewers -- about 50 percent more than usually come to his prime-time show.

And after that, his lead-out, Rachel Maddow, snagged more than 1.3 million viewers -- a nice spike relative to her October average of 953,000.

As if that weren't enough, Lawrence O'Donnell's MSNBC show bagged nearly 1 million viewers at 10; he'd averaged about 784,000 in October.

yup. Her numbers sucked.

Literally not one single post in this thread has claimed that her ratings were poor. Perhaps you could enlighten the rest of us as to what the OTHER voices in your head are saying, so that we can follow this argument too?

Wow....those would be HUGE numbers on the CW network.
implication being that since they were NOT on the CW, they were not 'huge'.

Face it. The implication of several posts in this thread is that her ratings were nothing special. They were, and liberals can't stand it because they hate her almost as much as they hate Dubbya.

Her 'nothing special' ratings kicked Olbermann's returning ass. I find that very special. :2razz:

Like I said, Jersey Shore gets more than both of them COMBINED. But it doesn't mean anything important to anyone.

CW is a broadcast network. TLC beating a broadcast network is pretty impressive.

Any other posts that you think make such an implication?

My socialist leaning friends above:

She's been a powerhouse in national politics in a short time, has more experience than Obama, has lived in the real world, has run businesses, been involved in local government and ran an important state. She could very well be the nominee. She has certainly helped shape national politics.

The only people who have more experience than Obama right now, are the former 43 presidents

I like Sarah Palin but her show is beyond lame. She should stick to politics.

Which brings up the important point that a show's second episode is probably just as important in determining popularity. A drop of 10-20% from episode 1 to episode 2 is pretty common, a drop of 50% means the show is risking cancellation.

I think both liberals and conservatives are taking this way to seriously. Good for her, she's cashing in on that fame, becoming even more famous etc. But in reality, all this means is that conservatives that like her get to see more of her, and conservatives and liberals that don't like her are pretty much guaranteed that we won't have to deal with a Palin run for president.

Yea, she's getting big ratings, but how many people that I respect or even half assedly care about have a tv show? Paris Hilton? Jersey Shore? Tyra Banks? Some lady that popped out 8 kids? Some old rocker that wants to nail a bunch of 20-something year olds while claiming that he's looking for love? The link between favorability and ratings on tv couldn't be more unrelated.

Me personally? Thank god I don't watch much tv and if I do feel like watching tv while her show is on, thank god I have 200 something other channels to choose from.

A car wreck on the road draws a crowd of gawkers too. The ratings of her show are indicative of one thing, the number of people who watched the show. We cannot extrapolate anything more than this from it, especially not the reasons or motivations of those who did tune in, I am sure some did out of fascination for her, and others did out of curiosity (be it morbid or not).

I tuned in, could only watch about 3 minutes before I almost hurled.

Throwing your family on display like a ****ing circus show.

I also love the fact that she talks about Tranquility as she screams the words lol!

I was a tad curious myself, and half thought about tuning in, but ultimately I decided against subjecting myself to the torture of hearing her shrill voice (and yes her voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me).

With all the money they spent promoting this show for weeks leading up to it, and all the advertisements everywhere for it, coupled with the inexplicable public fascination with her, it comes as no surprise whatsoever that it got great ratings.

This from George Soros's Huffington post while Palin's Alaska was still in the works. The comments were about boycotting. Dang I wonder how good the ratings would have been without a boycott.:rofl

Sarah Palin's TLC Reality Show: 'Sarah Palin's Alaska'

It is a strange move for Discovery — the purveyor of such classics as "Planet Earth" and "Life" and the parent of Planet Green and Treehugger — to sign with Palin, whose anti-nature stances include denying climate change, supporting aerial wolf-hunting, and, most famously, "Drill baby, drill!"
READ ABOUT PALIN'S MOST EGREGIOUS ANTI-NATURE STANCES
The New York Times asked a Discovery spokesman if Palin would address her views on climate change on the show; the spokesman would only say, "the deal was just concluded this week and now we begin the development and production

I think both liberals and conservatives are taking this way to seriously.

I just detest reality shows in general especially if they are totally unrelated to what the theme of the channel is supposed to be. MTV showing the Osbournes or Nick and Jessica I somewhat understand seeing how Ozzy Osbourne and Nick and Jessica are professional musicians, so those shows are somewhat music related . Road Rules,Young pregnant sluts and other shows do not have a damn thing to do with music. MTV is not a acronym for Moron Television nor is the station called DARSC(Dumb Ass Reality Show channel) . And last time I checked TLC is not a acronym for That Loser Channel nor is it called DARSC(Dumb Ass Reality Show channel). It's name TLC means the learning channel in other words it implies that it is a educational channel.
