Lars Klingbeil wants to clarify the SPD’s Russia course
According to SPD co-leader Lars Klingbeil, Russia must expect a “tough and consistent” response from the West if it violates Ukraine’s borders. The leadership of the SPD is united on this issue, said Klingbeil on Monday evening on ARD after a meeting of around 20 leading social democrats on the subject of Russia. “All options are on the table,” he emphasized when asked whether the Baltic Sea pipeline Nord Stream 2 could also be subject to sanctions in the event of war. “But it’s also about preventing a war in the middle of Europe,” stressed Klingbeil. That is the priority for the coming days and weeks."
SPD in December elected as its co-leader Bundestag member Lars Klingbeil, 43, who is strongly supported by the quarter of party members who are aged under 35. Klingbeil is widely credited with a disciplined pursuit of his campaign strategy in last year's election to focus on Scholz to lift the party from oblivion in the polls to its first place finish in the Sept. 26th federal election.
The federal government led by the SPD has come under increasing international criticism in recent days for its actions in the Ukraine crisis. Germany is accused of not putting enough pressure on Russia during the crisis. Scholz had hesitated for a long time before clearly positioning himself. In the USA, the question is also being raised as to whether Germany is still a reliable partner. The SPD presidium had already placed itself behind Chancellor Scholz’s line at a closed meeting a week ago. However, Schröder and [former foreign minister] Gabriel – both of whom are now no longer active in party politics – distanced themselves from the party line. Schröder accused Ukraine of “saber rattling” on Friday, and Gabriel then called for a discussion about arms sales "without taboos."
Indeed, during the special meeting Putin's Poodle Schroederovsky accused Ukraine of preparing to invade Russia. The former chancellor is Putin's Great Trophy in his pursuit of
State Capture in Germany and as is his sinister design for European leaders. SPD chairman Lars Klingbeil stepped away from the former chancellor, however: “Many can express themselves,” he said about Schröder. “But we, the current SPD leadership, will decide. The escalation comes from Russia. Now it’s a matter of having as many talks as possible and organizing peace."
Kevin Kuehnert, a longtime rival to Scholz and a flaming member of the SPD’s left wing, is the party’s new general secretary. Kuehnert, 32, has spoken strongly in favor of NS 2 approval, certification and its operation. Putin owns him as a part of the Kremlin's
State Capture of the Berlin political elites, ie, SPD starting with Willy Brandt and most recently the CDU led by Angela Merkelov.
The long and the short of it is that Scholtz the compliant bystander will be in Washington Monday Feb. 7 for a joint press session at the White House with Potus Biden. I could expect to see Scholz walk out with an axe on his shoulder with "Nord Stream 2" stenciled on the handle and "Made in the USA" stamped on it.
Putin and Schroederovsky having a gay time of it. Schroderovsky has called Putin "the perfect democrat."
