Saddam invades Kuwait, the world reacts with force. Putin invades Ukraine the world does not react with force, why not?

Or the fact that Saddam did not have nuclear weapons to strike back against people who oppose his military decisions.
Didn't W sell some americans on the lie saddam had weapons of mass destruction so we could invade iraq? Did we ever find any?

Saddam did not have a functional nuclear program, despite the lies told by Dubya and Colin Powell. We knew that he didn't but they would not have sold the war to the American people if they had admitted that fact.

Quoting Wikipedia:

"The Iraqi invasion of Kuwait was an operation conducted by Iraq on 2 August 1990, whereby it invaded the neighboring State of Kuwait, consequently resulting in >>> a seven-month-long Iraqi military occupation of the country." <<<

Is it possible oil plays into the decision making?
Saddam was a problem, but he wasn't intent on putting back together the Soviet Union yet.

Ukraine has oil.

No, and yes.

That being said, as has already been pointed out to you multiple times, the answer is Nukes.

The reason isn't nuclear weapons. Both the US and Russia are willing to risk everything- they have been for decades. It took seven months of Iraqi occupation of Kuwait before direct military intervention happened.

Yes, he was talking about bio and chemical weapons. We knew with certainty that Sadam did not have nukes. As it turns out, he had nothing, and Bush made a huge mistake. One of the biggest most brutal lies thrust on the global community of all time.

why do you think the cold war happened? because both the soviet union and the US had enough nukes combined to blow up the world. just because the soviet union is now just Russia and a few territories, they still have the nuclear arsenal.

Saddam didn’t have nuclear weapons. That’s it.
This is also why Iran wants nuclear weapons. Not for an offensive role but instead for defensive purposes, mostly Israel. No country that is part of the nuclear club has ever been invaded.

Wrong Iraq war. This is the first one.

When Bush 41 was in office, and the corrupt Kuwait government hired an American ad firm who had Bush's former chief of staff who they worked with, who designed an ad campaign of lies for the US spreading stories like the Iraq army taking babies out or incubators to steal them. Lots of ads about Saddam being the new Hitler.

The campaign had a witness testify to Congress on national news, moving the nation and Congress to support war against Saddam.

Turned out the witness was the daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador completely lying. But it worked. War done.

Putin's aggressions extend beyond Ukraine. He has attacked us and other democracies. He is a danger to all of us.

Iraq, Kuwait, what difference does it make?

Except India/Pakistan.

Oil was involved with both, but entirely for different reasons. And trying to compare Iraq invading Kuwait to Russia invading Ukraine is worse than apples to oranges.

Except India/Pakistan.
They are both members of the nuclear club, and it was never a full-scale invasion. It's small terrorist attacks and border pissing matches, usually over the disputed Khasmir region.

Eventually, no-one on the UN Security Council vetoed authorization for invasion. It's pretty much impossible to 'legally' use force against five countries in the world no matter what they do... same goes for those they choose to protect.
