Russians are standing behind Putin, and rallying around the war:

Russians Line Up Behind Putin

Polls and interviews show that many Russians now accept President Vladimir Putin’s contention that their country is under siege from the West and that it had no choice but to attack.

My colleagues Anton Troianovski, Ivan Nechepurenko and Valeriya Safronova report that most of the war’s opponents are leaving the country or keeping quiet. Antiwar protests, which led to more than 15,000 arrests across Russia in the first weeks of the war, have largely petered out.

A poll released this week by Russia’s most respected independent pollster, Levada, showed Putin’s approval rating hitting 83 percent, up from 69 percent in January. A whopping 81 percent said they supported the war.

Russians are standing behind Putin, and rallying around the war:

When your life is contained to a bubble that is controlled by Putin, you don't have much else to go by. Putin is lying to his citizens. They have been brainwashed to believe that Ukraine is the aggressor. 100% false propaganda. They haven't started counting the body bags yet. When they do, it will change.

Why do a lot of Russians stand behind Putin? They (the core) are programmed like this for a while. From the Russian tsar, Nikolai II, and his secret police (The Okhrana) to -> Stalin and KGB. Now the game is full nationalism.

So it appears from the above observations that the core of the Russian people have an affinity for autocratic rule.

The few thousand democratic voters left Russia already or are in the process of leaving.

I fully support any democratic Russian thinker in the West. They are welcome as much as a Ukrainian citizen in my view.

Anyone that complains about our western democracy is welcome to go to the Kremlin. You can have a trial for 1 month.

Russia has no independent and free public opinion polling.

All pollsters are Kremlin-influenced and people are afraid to voice their real feelings.

ALL polling out of Russia must be taken with a truckload of salt.

The actual support is probably 30% who support him and the war, 30% opposed and 40% somewhere in between/don’t care/cannot change anything personally/sit it out.

So what? When you lie to people and threaten them if they don't agree with you, of course they're going to "line up" behind you. People with guns pointed at their heads will usually go wherever the holder of the gun wants them to go.

Exactly. Don't think the Russian people want to spend 15 years of their lives in jail

When I read the thread title I saw Russians lining up to push Putin from a great height.

In a country where even publicly saying the word WAR or protesting will get you 15 years in prison what else would you expect of a 'poll' done asking Russian citizens how they feel about Putin?

As there are still Russians willing to go to prison by protesting Putin's failing war the OP is rather optimistic
