Russians Are Increasingly Concerned About Western Sanctions and Isolation, Poll Says | The Moscow Times

An increasing number of Russians say they are concerned about Western sanctions and international isolation, according to a new survey published by the independent Levada Center pollster. The West has targeted Russia with several waves of political and economic sanctions following its 2014 annexation of the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine and support for separatist forces in eastern Ukraine. The Kremlin has imposed countermeasures, including an import ban on certain foods from the European Union, the United States and other countries. The percentage of Russians who said they were “very concerned” or “fairly concerned” with political and economic sanctions has jumped to 43 percent over the past six months, up from 30 percent in April, according to a Levada poll published on Thursday. More respondents also said they were concerned by Russia’s international isolation due to their government’s position on Ukraine — at 43 percent, compared to 29 percent in April. Despite the increase, a majority of respondents still said they were unconcerned by either sanctions — 56 percent — or isolation — 52 percent. In comments to the Kommersant business daily, Levada director Lev Gudkov pointed out “dissatisfaction over increasing prices and taxes” as contributing to the shift in opinion. “People are understanding the authorities’ actions less and less and are increasingly feeling the fear that comes before a war,” Kommersant cited Gudkov as saying.

They should increasingly fear war. That is where Czar Putin is taking them.

The USA economic policies vis a vis Russia have been acts of War historically. Putin is not taking them to war. It is the USA economic arm of Full Spectrum Dominance and Hegemony that is the major cause of tension. Recent withdrawl from the INF treaty by the USA and stationing of NATO missiles, tanks, troops, and bases adjacent Russian borders is another tension generating factor. The USA Military Offense budget over $700 billion doesn't help.

Russia prepares for a war, but the US prepares for and adopts a policy of continuous war.

Driven by US exceptionalism and an impossible quest for absolute security, the US is a global war machine, a state geared up to imposing its will on everyone, constantly in conflict or near conflict with that part of the world which refuses to be a virtual US colony.

The US occupies no country. Russia on the other hand occupies portions of three different countries and saturation bombs a fourth.

Foreign lands illegally occupied by the Russian military.....

The US is a global military empire, and uses threats to try to coerce other states.

By some definitions of 'occupation', the US occupies over 100 states through its military presence and other coercive or controlling tools.

The veracity of RV's map of so called Russian occupation is illustrated by the fact that Russian forces in Transnistria are there under the terms of a UN brokered ceasefire. In other words, RV's map is a lie. Be careful with his analysis and watch out for lies.

A SOFA is not an occupation.

There would be no need of an agreement if Russian forces stayed at home instead of engaging in expansionism.
