Mongol Juchi Lobby in Belarus: Could Belarus be the Next after Ukraine?

Da, and Lukashenko knows it.

+1, he works hard against Muscovite lobby
"Russian-born Orthodox priest Kanstantsin Burykin, who was sentenced to three years in prison for possession of weapons and ammunition, has started a hunger strike.

The man is serving his term in Shklou penal colony. He demands a meeting with his lawyer and representatives of the Russian Embassy.

In his address to the Belarusian leader, Burykin said that on October 14, he had initiated proceedings on his being deprived of residence permit in Belarus. As soon as the priest walks free, he well be deported to Russia.

We have to be very patient with Russia.

Don't forget: For many years, the United States considered the countries south of the border to be our little brothers who needed our guidance.

We constantly interfered in Central American countries, overthrowing governments that we did not like.

We even tried to terminate the leader of a certain nearby island.

So Russia wants people to respect it as a great power, and it expects the little countries near it to treat Russia as their big brother.

A Mexican leader once said: "Poor Mexico, so far from God, so close to the United States."

No. Belarus is a dictatorship that pretty much nobody bu Russia wants to deal with. There’s no need for Russia to go after Belarus

No, we don't. We need to call Russia out more often and more forcefully when she interferes in the affairs of her neighbors.

there are couple of reasons
"Belarus Putin's No. 1 target – ex-advisor

Only one operation could significantly raise the fallen public support rating of the Russian president and maintain it for quite a long time.

A recent statement by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko where he opposed the setting up of Russian military bases on his country's territory shows that he sees the threat of Belarus's annexation by Russia following the Crimea example. Russia's previous aggressive foreign campaigns show that it is more convenient for Vladimir Putin to start a new mission if Russian military bases, Russian peacekeepers, Russian border guards, or other armed units, have already been deployed in the targeted territory, former advisor to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian economist Andrei Illarionov told Glavred. So it was in Georgia and so it was in the Ukrainian Crimea, the expert recalls. Apparently, these examples seemed to be convincing enough for Lukashenko as he is not in too much of a rush to allow deployment of a Russian military base in Belarus. However, although the lack of a Russian base in Belarus tunes down the threat of aggression, it does not completely rule out such developments. For a variety of reasons of internal political, foreign political, and ideological nature, Belarus continues to be No 1 target for Kremlin's possible aggression in the near future, Illarionov suggests. It should also be kept in mind that Russian sociological studies indicate a gradual drop in Putin's public support rating, the last major blow to which was the so-called "pension reform."

"What ways could Putin use to try to raise his dropping rating? On the one hand, for Putin there is no need to significantly raise the rating right now, since the so-called “elections” have just passed, and the next ones will be only in more than five years. On the other hand, to start operations like that in Ukraine, Syria, or the war in Central African Republic, intervention in Libya, first of all it is a will that is needed, regardless of the ratings," Illarionov believes. "The only operation that could really raise Putin’s rating noticeably and maintain it for quite a long time is the annexation of Belarus," the expert says. "Not parts of Belarus as it was in the case of Ukraine, where Crimea and Donbas were occupied, but the entire country." "Belarus is more homogeneous than Ukraine and highly Russified. A considerable part of Belarusians are very positive towards Russia, Russians, and even Putin. If Putin decides to go for this kind of operation, his goal will not be to capture pieces of Mogilev, Vitebsk or Gomel regions, but to establish control over the whole of Belarus," the expert claims.
At the same time, as UNIAN reported earlier, Belarus citizens might be gradually shifting away from under Russia's cultural influence. In June this year, a civic petition was put forward in Belarus suggesting that the government ban the "St. George" ribbons, initially used in Russia to honor the WW2 heroes but then becoming one of the notorious symbols of the "Russian world" the Kremlin has been imposing on neighboring states, yet another instrument in its "soft power" toolkit. There was also a proposal to increase to 50% the use of the Belarusian language in state television broadcasts."

really? great power? you must be joking .

Good morning from California.

I did NOT say that Russia is a great power.

Russia wants to be treated AS IF it were a great power.

I agree with your implication: Except for its nuclear weapons, it is a paper tiger.

In fact, if Russia did get into a non-nuclear war with the West, it might get its butt kicked. And maybe the young men of the Russian army would even revolt against senseless fighting. (As Russia gets involved more deeply in the Middle East, it may even lead to President Putin's eventual "retirement.")

Hate to break it to you guys, but Russia and Belarus are already and entirely voluntarily in a Union State.

But don't let reality intrude on your hate.

Your ignorant prejudice, and sheer nonsense, is astounding.

The Mongo Empire, Spanish Empire, French Coloniol Empire, Qing Dynasty, Roman Empire, Persian Empire, etc.

The classification of a state as a “power,” is its ability to influence other countries. Russia has enough military power, political influence, and economic power. Russia qualifies.

Russia’s economy is smaller than California’s, smaller than Texas’, smaller than New York state. Russia is barely larger than Florida, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, in GDP valued in US dollars. It’s pretty amazing how ridiculously large the US economy is, and the map above helps put America’s GDP of $18 trillion in 2015 into perspective by comparing the GDP of US states to other country’s entire national GDP. For example: 1. America’s largest state economy is California, which produced $2.44 trillion of economic output in 2015, just slightly above the GDP of France during the same period of $2.42 trillion. Consider this: California has a workforce of about 19 million

Indeed. The greatest threat to the United States is itself.

Europe? Close tie between Russia and America.

It fluctuates depending on who is being the bigger asswipe that particular day, really.

Are you also claiming that the California National Guard could beat the VSRF? No. While not a great military, they are still a threar

As is any nation with thermonuclear warheads and ballistic/cruise missiles. Russia is a gas station with nuclear weapons run by gangsters.

I will say this about Belarus. The rural areas there are really, really rural. Like 1910 rural. Outhouses and communal water pumps. But the people are very friendly and inquisitive.

Minsk is by far the cleanest city I have ever visited. No graffiti anywhere, no litter on streets/sidewalks, grass is always perfect, flowers are gorgeous, no flotsam on the Svislach River, etc.

A fastidiously clean capital city.

really, can you name Muscovite allies (real one) today?

California can make high tech weapons from scratch in any numbers , it has N1 high tech industry in the world, Muscovy can make only bad copies of soviet weapons , only the idiots believe that they can hit USA somehow. do you need links?

I say “political influence” and you say “name real allies.” Why. One can have firm allies but little influence over other countries and one can have a large amount of political influence but few or no allies.

A Belarusian take on Putin's ever-shrinking "Russian World":

(Yes, that's funny for Russians)
