Russian Effort to Influence 2016 Election Targeted African-Americans

"The Russian influence campaign on social media in the 2016 election made an extraordinary effort to target African-Americans, used an array of tactics to try to suppress turnout among Democratic voters and unleashed a blizzard of posts on Instagram that rivaled or exceeded its Facebook operations, according to a report produced for the Senate Intelligence Committee."

Here is the proof. In the 2012 Presidential Election, African Americans comprised 13% of the voters. In 2016, it plummeted to 12% as a result of Trump and the Russians.

How do you explain the dramatic plummet of African American vote in the 2016 Presidential Election?

Plummeted from 13 to 12? Couldn't have anything to do with crooked Hillary, could it?

From what I read, the Russians colluded with Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein to influence the election.

Here is the African American vote in Presidential Election year by year and who they mostly voted for. Notice the wild, inexplicable fluctuations.

2004 (Gore) : 11%
2008 (Obama) : 13%
2012 (Obama) : 13%
2016 (Clinton) : 12%

And now, thanks to Pres.Trump, African Americans have the lowest unemployment in recorded keeping of those numbers.

Please explain why leftists think that black Americans are so easily duped?

Racist much?

Now that we are seeing the degree to which social media was used by the Russians in their 2016 Election Influence campaigns to influence particular demographics, suppressing minority voting for example, there is no longer any question about whether their impact on the Election itself was something greater than Zero. It was not Zero. it could not have been Zero. Probably was not even close to Zero.

Worse, it really does dovetail with Trump's own campaign of divisiveness either intentionally or unintentionally.

It plummeted because Obama was not on the ticket. 2008 for the first time ever the percentage of blacks
voting actually exceeded the percentage of whites voting. There favorite son was not on the ticket &
there determination & desire to vote subsided.

There are 250 milion voters in the US. 13% of them are African Americans. That makes for about 28 million.

While I am about to apply a nonsensical cut to the 28 million I am going to do it just for the sake of fairness in the argument. Since only a bit more than half the Electorate voted in the 2016 Election lets wipe out half the 28 million to 14 million.

Even if only 1% of those stayed home because of the Russian voter suppression effort, that is 140,000 voters. Looking at the specificity with which the Russians attacked African-American voters in their voter suppression campaign, literally making the case for "staying home" on Election day and given the degree to which many Americans of all persuasions have unfortunately grown to depend on Social Media I would have to say 2% to 3% gets closer to the numbers effected. That would be 280,000 to 320,000 voters staying home.

We in marketing use advertising because it works. It would be entirely logical to suggest that at least 140,000 African-American voters stayed home on Election Day 2016 due to the direct Russian voter suppression effort and more likely that at least 280,000 stayed home. I am being conservative in my estimates. If I used the traditional numbers that we in product marketing would use for this sort of campaign, the numbers I would suggest would be much higher.

Anybody remember how narrow Trump's win was in 2016? In fact Trump LOST the general election and won the Electoral College, winning by narrow margins in three states with large African-American populations.

"Plummeted"? More like a rounding error. Or more likely they chose not to vote because they didn't like either candidate.

So it wasn't the gerrymandering or the voter supression tactics (https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politi...ression-a-southern-tradition-still-flourishes) (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/jun/07/black-voter-suppression-rights-america-trump) that suppressed black people, it was the Russians?

Wow! You really may need to rethink this.
