SAN FRANCISCO—After unleashing widespread cyberattacks and disinformation warfare on the U.S. during the 2016 presidential election, Russia’s trolls and hackers mostly appeared to have sat on the sidelines during the campaign ahead of last week’s midterm elections.
==================================================
Since DJT plans to run in 2020, maybe Putin's 'thumbs up' sign was a signal that the fix was in for him to win reelection. But I thought DJT said this was all a hoax, that there was no hacking. Better he should check with the conservative WSJ.

It's probably because they interfered on behalf of the Democrats this time so it's nit being looked for.

Probably because this election went more the way that Democrats wanted, so there was no "RUSSIAN HACKING" to make up.

The Russians goal is chaos and making the US weak. They did not do anything this time because Trump and his goons have done enough to maintain and increase the chaos.

Perhaps this time our intel community was wide awake and ready to intercept any coordinated hack attempts. Also social media seems to have done a better job of filtering out Kremlin trolls.

Susan Rice reportedly told the White House cyber team to 'knock it off' when they floated options to combat Russian meddling

" "I wanted to send a signal that we would not tolerate disruptions to our electoral process," Daniel said, according to the book. "The Russians are going to push as hard as they can until we start pushing back."

Daniel and Wallander then laid out a number of aggressive options, including targeting the Russian intelligence community and Russia-linked actors through a string of NSA-backed cyberattacks; leaking classified intelligence revealing the financial activities of Putin and his family members; and announcing a joint US-NATO "cyber exercise" to make clear to Russia that the US and the West was capable of crippling the entire country.

But when then-national security adviser Susan Rice learned of Daniel's plans, she called him into her office and told him to cease his operations. "

It is possible they were not being protected by democrats this time.

It is nice to get a perspective from outside the chaos that exists in the U.S.

Oh for God sake...I keep waiting for a comment that suggests some semblance of ability to think critically and of course....NOPE!

They did not interfere for the obvious reasons some of us pointed to BEFORE The mid-terms. The payoff was not big enough. The Russians are not stupid. They were not going to spend their resources and expose the depth of their assets in order to railroad Congressman Bunkybunk or even Senator Bunkybunk. The next time we hear from the Russians hacking systems here will either be the 2020 election or flipping the switch on half the power grid.

Our Intel community knew what was going on in 2016. When Trump said the only way he could loose was with interference on behalf of Hillary it really limited what Obama was willing to do. He didn't want to bolster Trumps claims by admitting there could be interference because everyone thought Trump would loose

Obama overcommitted to the high road. Even when confirmation began to surface of the infiltration, he didn't make a very big deal of it.

Now, of course, everyone with a functioning brain cell was on high alert to even the appearance of hacking. We were not going to fall for the same trick twice.
