Russians have been leaving the country for many years but since the invasion began and Putin has stopped the media from giving true news and is punishing those that spread information that he does not want spread, Russians have started to leave the country in big numbers. Those that have been leaving are the ones with brains (the dumb stay behind).

In addition, the sanctions are having a strong effect on the country. Rising rental costs, inflated prices for just about everything, and the inability to get funds out of the market, has generated an exodus. Many have also decided that the Ukraine war is a travesty and are going to other countries that are giving help to Ukraine and they are also giving help.

Russian 'brain drain' of academic, finance, and tech workers 'might be the most important problem' for its economy, experts say

  • Economists say more educated, middle-class Russians are likely to leave over Western sanctions.

Russia faces brain drain as thousands flee abroad

Yevgeny says it is his responsibility as a Russian to help Ukrainians
Outside Georgia's parliament, Yevgeny Lyamin heaves boxes of clothes and food parcels on to a waiting truck bound for Ukraine. He is one of more than 25,000 Russians to have arrived in Georgia since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

According to one estimate by a Russian economist, as many as 200,000 Russians have left their country since the start of the war.

Putin is losing the war everywhere, even his own people are deserting him.

If you're a well-educated Russian, why would you stay in a pariah nation with a worthless currency?

I'm not sure Putin can reverse this mess. Why invest in Russia when you don't know when the unstable dictator will pull another stunt like this?

Is the next step to prevent educated professionals from leaving the country? I think Putin's days are numbered.

During the USSR days, they didn't allow people to leave. That may be next.
