Kremlin concerned that political crisis could erode Russian influence and investments in Venezuela

The Russian government has denied that it has sent mercenaries to protect the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, after an opposition leader with backing from the United States declared himself the country’s president.

Russia has thrown its diplomatic weight behind Maduro in recent days, criticizing the US for violating Venezuela’s sovereignty by supporting the leadership claim of opposition leader Juan Guaidó.

There's that Monroe Doctrine thing again. A Russian air base with nuclear-capable bombers in the Western Hemisphere? Now Russian troops (aka mercenaries)? This starting to resemble the Cuban Missile Crisis which led the world to the brink of a nuclear armageddon.

It is Ukraine 2.0 or Syria 2.1

US/NATO/EU meddles in Russian sphere of influence and Russia reacts.

Reminds me of the time the US said "we dont have any troops in Syria" and then suddenly we found out there was so called advisers. Both sides play the game and it can turn into a very dangerous game.

As for the whole "nuclear capable bombers".. well all bombers are technically nuclear capable. It is just more fear mongering propaganda piss, just like we hear to day that the US and Canada scrambled fighters to meet Russian bombers in international airspace. Is it Russia being aggressive? Sure, but betcha the US/NATO also flies in "international airspace" very close to Russia and yet that is not a problem?

Reminds me of the whole south China sea issue between China and the US. China has a right to be in the area, no doubt about that. The US on the other hand, has to use the freedom of international waters excuse. Now if China happens to send a few of its boats to sit off the shore (in international waters of course) of say Pearl or LA.. that would not be a problem right?

Getting tired of these cold war shenanigans coming back..

Those are Wagner Group mercenaries. The Wagner Group is owned by Russian oligarch Yevgeny Prigozhin, a Putin crony and also the owner of the Internet Research Agency (Russian Troll Factory). Prigozhin also owns Concord Catering, which supplies meals to the Russian military. The Kremlin uses Wagner when it prefers deniability. Wagner mercenaries are housed at a GRU military base in Russia.

Since when is endorsing a candidate "meddling"?

And bombers specifically designed as nuclear bombers are normally defined as nuclear capable bombers.

Not all bombers are nuclear bombers... Unless your definition is "they can get it off the ground".

If you are not a citizen of said country, then it is ALWAYS meddling.

They dont need to be designed to carry a nuclear bomb... just saying.

Yes they are. Do they have bomb-bay doors? Can you push out a bomb that is nuclear? Both are yes.. hence all bombers can be nuclear bombers.

Recognizing a legitimate president is meddling.... Hmmmm

One has to be a citizen in order to be able to endorse.

Hmmmm

No.

And I bow to your superior military knowledge. (sarcasm)

Most international election monitors have declared the Maduro election to be tainted and fraudulent.

There is more than one way to the Presidency. Legally.

And if they aren't nuclear capable bombers they aren't really nuclear bombers...

Most international election monitors have declared the Maduro election to be tainted and fraudulent.

last Maduro " election " was " if you dont vote you dont eat" (get monthly food ration, salaries are not enough even for basic food products ) . with other words Moduro is a pure Satan, and thats why cooperative ozero supports him

So you are saying some random guy can stand up and swear himself in as president and that is in the constitution? Are you seriously saying that article 233 is okay to be used in this way?

You made the claim , so it's you that is obliged to back it

Where , what part of the Venezuelan constitution validates Guaido's claim ?

How is his proclamation legal under the law or constitution ?

What does the Venezuela constitution say?

Why don't you do some research yourself for a change.

How is it legal/constitutional for Guaido to claim the presidency of Venezuela ?

The problem with too many Americans is that they think that they have the right to overthrow leaders who don't want to kiss their @rses and have become brazen about it

Maybe the world should have laughed at US elections that brought Bush 2 in after their Jebs lackies had stuffed all of those black people/felons in Florida out of their votes , eh ?

Americans talking about free and fair elections or corrupt ones , the brass neck of it.

When Hamas were elected in Gaza in what were held as free and fair elections did they respect Garzan democracy ? No , they immediately conspired with the usual suspects to overthrow it

There's nothing so ridiculous as seeing US cheerleaders spouting off about democracy when they haven't got a clue just how bent their own charade is and how much they crap on other peoples if they don't like the result

Pathetic , hypocritical , ignorant , wilfully so ,you people tick all the boxes imo remember it too when you are crying about alleged Russian meddling in your own affairs

Your first question suggests you do some research.

You asked how.

This suggests you haven't learned yourself up.

Check a few posts here or refer to the Venezuelan constitution....

CLUE: Popular vote is not the only route to President.

Your the one claiming to know why Guaido's bid is legal so why don't you elaborate using the constitution or Venezuelan law ?

You can't just claim it to be legal without citing the relevant literature

Your claim , the onus is on you.

Intentional ignorance it is.... Read the posts, look up the Venezuelan Constitution. Your continued ignorance is not my fault.
