Russia Condemns U.K. Foreign Army Base Plans

1/11/19
Russia on Friday condemned British plans to open military bases in south-east Asia and the Caribbean and said it stood ready to take retaliatory measures if its own interests or those of its allies were threatened. British defense minister Gavin Williamson told the Sunday Telegraph newspaper last month that London was working on plans to build two new foreign bases "within the next couple of years" after it left the European Union. Williamson did not specify where the bases might be built, but the newspaper reported that options included Singapore or Brunei near the South China Sea and Montserrat or Guyana in the Caribbean. Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia's foreign ministry, on Friday described Williamson's comments as baffling and warned such plans could destabilize world affairs. "In the event of any measures that pose a threat to Russia's security or that of its allies our country reserves the right to take appropriate retaliatory measures."

Well, the Brits just received a threat from Russia that is usually reserved for Ukraine. What you 'must not do' according to Moscow.

Seems odd seeing that the Kremlin has military bases in Syria, the Central African Republic, and is negotiating with Venezuela for a military base there.

Why are the Russians negotitating with Venezuela? Just do like the USA does and occupy the place. Like Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, etc. As for UK, they're just attempting to make themselves relevant for when BREXIT hits them up side the brain, or lack thereof, box.

RF For Min statement was not a threat, just a standard observation.

The UK has singled itself out as a purveyor of Russian hatred, and Moscow will never give it the time of day after its handling of the Skripal affair.

But we must remember that the UK is a deeply troubled society which struggles to form even a very small army. It is a lamb that roars like a lion and Moscow sees it that way.

We occupied Libya?

When?

Sounds like a standard condemnation from Russia. It's another "don't do as we do" thing. If the China-Russia co-op breaks down, and it will, Russia will have much larger problems in their east than a British base or two in the region.

Everyone is in Africa - Russia, China, USA, others. They have a butt load of raw materials and rare earth's, and laws that can be changed with a suitcase or three full of money. Russia and China have the advantage because they have no "morality clause" in contracts forbidding slave and child labor.

When?

Perhaps you didn't notice that when Cmdr. Stevens was running the CIA weapons ratline from Libyan armories via turkey to Syrian ISIS/AlAeda, etc. that those CIA groupies were occupying Libyan territory. Then there is that lobely 20 year Langley Virginia resident, Supreme Commander Haftar doing the CIA occupation. You can go ahead and release another wet fart. It suits you.

When WHO provided weapons to WHO?

An embassy is "occupying" a country? WTF are you babbling about?

Who the hell was "Cmdr. Stevens"?

And we know arms where not being shipped to "ISIS/AlAeda" (That is a Russian disinformation lie)... Hell you can't even get the names right.

A "lobly" "Supreme Commander" Haftar?

You must mean Khalifa Haftar who in 2014 launched Operation Dignity against Islamist militants (Al Qaeda affiliates) in Benghazi and the east. In March 2015 Libya's elected parliament, the House of Representatives (HoR) - which had replaced the GNC - appointed him commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA).

Wow. There "CIA Operations" take forever considering Gaddafi was deposed in 2011.... And the CIA had to wait until Haftar defeated Islamist militants (Al Qaeda affiliates) in Benghazi and the east... And wait for the House of Representatives to appoint him...

You really don't understand history... Do you?

Is there a 'morality' clause in weapons sold to Saudis?

Or is the West not bothered about killing children .......... just the child labor bit that's too much?

I like looking at your posts... It is always amazing how separated from reality you can be.

Where did you get your *special* version of history?
