As someone who has been a fan of Nat Geo since the age of 6 I cannot express enough just how troubling this is!
Rupert Murdoch Buys National Geographic
There needs to be a law passed against media monopolies.

There are very few news pieces that make me shocked or sad, and this is one of them.
National Geographic is about to be eviscerated by the same empire that brings us the age of media misinformation and misdirection.
They have always covered topics nicely in such an objective fashion, with wonderful editorials with photo pieces attached. How many areas of work in Nat Geo will now become taboo because of this man's ownership?
For shame.
sorry for bad englishAre most people in Iran anti-semitic?

Sad news ... it will go as the Wall Street Journal I am guessing, a right wing fanatics handbook.
The WSJ still has good business journalism. Just an insane editorial policy.
Its gone insane since Mourdoch took over. It was predicted and he actually broke a verbal agreement not to do so... the founders are not happy about it.
The only way is down for Nat Geo. All of Murdoch's empire follow his editorial line or else, and he's a climate denier. There goes any Nat Geo objectivity. Science grants are on the line too.
Climate change denier Rupert Murdoch just bought National Geographic, which gives grants to scientists - Boing Boing
What's gone insane? The editorial line hasn't changed in the slightest. What's changed is a vast broadening of the news coverage.

LOL, so much angst!
Yeah, much better for it to shut down for good, I suppose.Yeah, strange how some people don't like it when one of the few bastions of credibility gets absorbed by a corporation that profits from info-tainment.
