The court ruled that, since the 9 plaintiffs were not American citizens, they did not have the right to use the American judicial system to sue Rumsfeld. However, the court DID say that the plaintiffs were, in fact, tortured. The torture techniques used on them consisted of the following:

* hung upside-down and slapped until they lost consciousness

*
stabbed with knives

*
subjected to electric shocks

*
deprived of sleep by loud noises and bright lights

*
grabbed by aggressive dogs

* sexually humilitated

All 9 plaintiffs had been detained, and were tortured, for up to a year. None was ever charged with any crime.
